Roy was an excellent pick at his position. A reclamation project with a huge ceiling. Very impressed with our draft thus far, much like I expected to be.

Both picks that I didn't like at the time of Poirier and Kanzig have very, very quickly changed my mind.

Culkin had a goal and an assist tonight. He was a +2 and had 4 SOG. He was the 3rd star of the game in a 6-2 win.

@Fan960Steinberg: News from Windsor and @asktheduffer has Pat Sieloff not returning to Windsor. #Flames or Abbotsford for him.

Also Granlund not playing in the final preseason game, or the last one against the Rangers. Does that mean he's getting at least a look in the first NHL game, or cut?

Granlund and Sieloff will both be on the Heat imo, I think Monahan has passed Granlund this preseason.

Sieloff would do well in Abby with the odd call-up over the next few seasons.

I think Granlund will be assigned to the Heat any time now. I would of liked to see him get some more preseason games, but I think he will be a huge asset on the Heat and it will be good for his development. I think we'll see him up on the Flames at some point this year. Seiloff I believe is still in the mix for the final spot on D as is Wotherspoon.

Seiloff not going back to Juniors.

Agent verification:

Ryan Pinder‏@RyanPinder26s
Just spoke with Patrick Sieloff's agent. Confirmed he won't be returning to Windsor this season.

Nice to see, hopefully he sticks with the big guys. Wouldnt be bad to see him and TSpoon in the AHL playing top pairing.

I could see Sieloff-Breen playing as a defensive pair during the year.

If memory serves, this gives the Heat one of the youngest defensive groups in the AHL, no? Most are 24 or under.

A very interesting article about Ferland:

Quote:
"I really had to dig down and realize what I wanted," he said. "I thought I had a really good summer; I came to Calgary for a little while and that was the best thing for me.

"At first, I wasn't sure I wanted to come here but now that I look back, it was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made."

In addition to working with management, Ferland spent a lot of time talking with Flames head coach Bob Hartley. The bench boss aided in Ferland's decision to continue to pursue a career in hockey.
Looking at his performance in the past little while I think he made the right choice to keep pursuing a career in hockey. Hopefully he's not hanging out with Howse...

Good luck to Sieloff. While it's tough to see him leave Windsor (we could really use him), we knew he was good enough to stick in the pros.

Great for Sieloff! The Flames have also stated that if Team USA picks him for the WJC, they'll let him play for them.

Where has Granlund been? He hasn't been on a roster in the last little while but I haven't heard of him being reassigned.

Add Bill Arnold to that, and very possibly John Gillies. Depends if he decides he wants to go pro that quickly or needs the summer to decide. The Flames were hinting heavily that he may sign next year.

It's once he's sure he has a future in hockey. Until the Flames say they think he will get a good shot at camp he's best off riding the scholarship money

I'm so excited for Bill Arnold. I just saw so much I liked from him at the camp. Everyone knows what we have with Gaudreau and Gilles and Agostino, but Arnold has to be the best dark horse prospect in the organization.

Depends if they go all the way to the Frozen Four. And given that seems to be what our prospects like to do pretty much every year, only a few will probably be done by April.
