5th round - 163rd overall the Bears select

T Jordan Mills - Louisiana Tech

Passed up some real good WR's and TE's

Mills has poor technique and issues with consistency/faster DE's but has NFL upside at T

One thing is clear. This new coaching staff came in and stated the obvious: "These offensive linemen SUCK"

Consider all of the Angelo/Tice project guys on notice. Webb and Carimi are likely not part of our future. There's going to be a huge effort this off season to rebuild this line and find the right bodies to do it. No one is safe.

Here's a scouting report on this guy

Jordan Mills, La. Tech, OT, 6'5" 316

Analysis

Strengths
Mills has tremendous size and power in his upper and lower body. Mills is always hustling, and doesnít stop working until the whistle blows. He shows good awareness on stunts and sells play action passes very well. Mills has a very good first step. Takes a powerful inside step to cut off defenders. Showcases this step and balance on seal and reach blocks. Coordinated, with a good pass set.

Weaknesses
Inconsistent in his aiming point. Will grab outside of the chest plate, which will result in holding calls. Mills isnít very quick off the snap, and can be beaten almost instantaneously because of this. Mills can also be found lunging at his blocks too often. Never played left tackle.

NFL Comparison
Michael Oher

Bottom Line
Mills is a powerful player with tremendous size. He combines this size with great hustle. Aside from a couple starts at guard his freshman season, Mills has only played at right tackle, but scouts will likely see him as a versatile prospect capable of playing left tackle, right tackle, or guard. Mills could find himself as a top-100 selection.

You can't fix everything in one year. He added weapons last year. This year he is fixing the O-Line and LB.

NFL Draft has been much better this year now that they removed the spoiler camera shots on prospects

Yes, I'm going to call him a potential weapon. I think Tice did a brutal job of using him last year. I think Trestman gets more creative with him this year. He will be our "Joker" Tight End / Fullback.

Lucky for us, he's a 5th round pick, whereas Carimi was a 1st.

Still, different coaching staff, different offensive system, different offensive line philosophies. This guy I'm guessing fits Kromers system more than Carimi or probably Webb. At the very least, he's competition for Webb, which is a good thing. No downside, and I like seeing the commitment to fix this line. Hopefully we have picked some good guys.

Turner always used that power lead play where the full back would leak out in to the flat and would always get 4-8 yards. Need to use that with him

I think we will. I think we may also see him split out sometimes like a poor-man's Aaron Hernandez.

I expected that last year, but Tice was just lost as an OC.

he ignored it because lovie is an idiot and can't evaluate or coach offense... at all.... it turns out, and Emery like an idiot listened to him.

Tice is the worst OC we've had since Terry Shea. Way worse than Martz and Turner

They traded a 3rd rounder last year and this year for Brandon Marshall. Brandon Marshall > Any two receivers combined in this or last years draft. That's adding a weapon, Alshon Jeffrey is great when he's healthy. They also added Michael Bush who had a good year.

This Emery criticism is all because of Shea McClellin getting no playing time, while Chandler Jones had a lot. Long hasn't played yet, what if he's an All Pro lineman? Who knows he hasn't played an NFL snap.

No.

John Shoop was the worst. Two wide receiver screens and a HB draw on 3rd and 9 was his recipe for a lot of 3 and outs.

Martz was fine the problem was Cutler wouldn't trust our WR to read the same plays as him and change their routes. are play calls were also pretty bad especially when Cutler broke his thumb and Hanie was in.

Lovie also can't manage the clock or use challenges properly.

is Nassib still around? may be a guy to take in the 7th if he's their and a WR or TE.
