However perhaps easier to delete/lock thread and start again.

Well hopefully he Sens can resign him, although he is hidden behind Alfie and Hossa in terms of production i think he will prove to be a better player in the future then both of the others, so hopefully the sens are able to hold on to him

He is likely flying in to fire his agents. Discussions will go like this:

H: "So what is the state of the contract talks?"
W: "Nothing happening, they don't want to give you a good deal since you have no leverage. We have to wait them out."
H: "Wait for what?"
W: "Wait for them to change their minds."
H: "And what will it take for them to change their minds?"
W: "Don't know, perhaps a lot of injuries will occur."
H: "With their depth that's not likely. So if that doesn't happen, what then?"
W: "Then you may sit out the whole season."
H: "Then what?"
W: "Then there is the lockout, which we think will last a year or two."
H: "Then what?"
W: "Then we have contract talks under the new CBA."
H: "Won't I have even less leverage then?"
W: "Yes, but they will know you are serious about sitting out."
H: "So then I may have to sit out another season?"
W: "Well, until they change their minds."
H: "So your plan is for me to maybe sit out the whole season, then wait out the lockout, then maybe sit out some more?"
W: "It may not be that bad, we hope they will change their minds."
H: "Wait for them to change their minds? I'm changing agents."

Ottawa will let him sit. They aren't in a desperate situation at all with all their depth. If anything, they'll give Vermette his spot instead. You lose a little offense but you improve your team defense. Havlat will eventually come back with a proposal similar to what the Sens originally offered(1.9 a season for 2 years).

Plus, Havlat won't get any attention. With Spezza's first season and Hossa likely to have a better season than last year, who's going to pay attention to Havlat?

IMO, I can't really see this dragging out too much longer.....the Sens are very deep, but Halvat is an important part of the team....

I love the subtle sarcasm in this post.

I sure hope they sign him soon, he's so exciting to watch, it would be a shame if he didn't play this season as I think he's due for a 70 point season.

I'm pretty sure that was 1.9 mil over 2 years.

Havlat is a fan favourite. And if he sits out for the season his lack of presence will be felt. They need to get this guy signed and soon. A three year deal is what I'm expectin.
