Yakimov 0+1, Slepyshev 1+0 after two periods.
Like Dustin Penner? Would that be a somewhat accurate top ceiling projection? I know Yak 2.0 is a big kid, tough to push off the puck, but I haven't seen him play enough.

I think that's a pretty decent comparison. My dream is for him to be like Hanzal, but I think that's a little unrealistic.

Thanks for the effort...

Sad looking numbers for the OKC group esp with Omark gone.. 17 pts for team lead is ugly.

WHLers are the only bright spot IMO.. expected more from the rest...Good for Harti .. doubt he comes back..

Any news on how Marc Olivier Roy is progressing? He has been out for quite some time already.

Great game in Guelph night, a 5-3 victory for the Storm over the Greyhounds. Wouldn't expect any less from two of the best in the Conference. Darnell Nurse was an absolute beast tonight. Controlled the play whenever he was on the ice. The best game I've seen him play this year.

This from a game where Nurse scored a ES goal and ended up -1 on the night in a loss. Good to hear.

Hey, a pulse.

It'd be nice if Hamilton managed to get it back on the rails, and develop into a Moss/McDonald kind of player. With OKC losing its depth on wing, this is shot to play some minutes.

This is the one issue with drafting players with "safe upsides". Yes, they likely will develop into regulars at the NHL, buts its rarely with their draft team as they end up running out of patience.

Moroz with a goal and 3rd star and Jackson Houck with the hatty and 1st star.

Houck's really turned it on after a slow start.

20G 32P in his last 26GP.

Nice shift by Yakimov 5 mins into the second, nearly scored all by himself.

Side note: A lot of dumb penalties by both teams in this game.

Good to see both our guys trusted in the final minutes. Especially Yakimov at center

He also waved off a line change and killed off an entire 5-on-3 by himself. The guy is a killer.

Slepyshev rang 1 off the post.

Some pretty big praises for Nurse from his coach in this article.
http://www.thespec.com/sports-story/...ing-an-impact/

Basically says Nurse faces the toughest competition of any player in the league by a fair margin, especially of any dmen. Goes on to say that he is the best dman in the OHL and plays 25-30mins a night, always against the best players of other teams.

Slepyshev was named one of Russia's best players along with Grigorenko and Vasilevski.

We know this as Oiler fans. He looked good in preseason only reason he was cut because of age. Team Canada couldn't use that type of d man in this tournament.

Canada certainly could have used that type of Dman in this tournament. Most of their D were pretty terrible and undisciplined as it was.

They were mostly offence no defence.

They were supposed to provide offence. They didn't.

You can't tell me Bigras who has 11 points in 30 odd games was there to provide offence over Nurse who has 36 in 39.

Now that gold is out of reach for Canada, I hope Slepyshev and Yakimov tear them to bits tomorrow morning.

I'm a Canadian first and fore-most, but those losers don't deserve a medal this year.

Well, that's fair. It sounded like you were calling all the players losers.

Great night for Oilers prospects in the WHL:

Greg Chase 2g 2a
Jujhar Kharia 1g 1a
Mitch Moroz 1g 2a

I was at the Oil Kings game tonight, and boy did Moroz impress he had a massive hit was constantly in on the offence and was crashing the crease all night, I liked the pick when we made it and I'm happy he's finally showing why he was taken so early.

Was reading an oiler blog and saw these splits for Martin gernat

Gernat in October-November: Bakersfield (ECHL) 3, 0-1-1; OKC (AHL) 11, 0-3-3 -4
Gernat in December-January: 13, 2-7-9 +3
WITH THE BARONS: 24, 2-10-12 -1

That's very promising stats and also he hasn't been getting pp time as only one of his assists are from the also Curtis Hamilton scored another goal and has 6 points in the last 4 games, lander had a goal and an assist last night as well.
