Sounds like Liverpool

Also, Belarus is done. No way they score 2. Sorry Finland fans

Yeah, I remember that. Roy Hodgson is my favoritest manager. I would rather have him than Brendan Rodgers.

Thanks for nothing Belarus

So close yet so far, once again

Hopefully we can get some points against France to complete the lists of getting points every away match in these qualifiers.

Austria beats Ireland which means the Sweden-Austria game in October will be all but deciding for the 2nd place.

England has not beaten Poland, Montenegro, or Ukraine. Yet they will need to beat one or two of them in October.

draw for England is not the end of the world in Ukraine, especially considering they have two home matches to close the campaign but the way they are playing they may not beat one of Montenegro and Poland

A country with ~300k inhabitants making the World Cup out of the most competitive confederation would be one of the greatest achievements in football history.

Hurrah! Group E is so exciting. 4 teams can still take second place. But, it looks like that team will then end last in the ranking of second-placed teams?

That's true, but Iceland has produced a ridiculous amount of quality players over the years.

As great a story it would be, Iceland is likely headed for the playoff. Anything can happen there but it's unlikely

All of Iceland's 13 points count, they lost against their group whipping boy Cyprus.

Will depend on who they end up facing. I think they can beat Greece, and pulling an upset against Croatia is entirely possible.

worst runner-up will be Group B most likely, unless Bulgaria win both their matches (Armenia away, Czech home). If anybody but Bulgaria finish 2nd in that group then for sure its them.

Iceland will be ok if they finish 2nd, but its still not a guarantee they will

Really too hard to make all calculations; at the moment if you take the current 2nd place teams the main candidates are Bulgaria or Hungary, but both possibly won't finish 2nd

Agreed. They have to get the right match-up and then performance. Best of luck to them, it would be awesome to see.

Heck, look at how France and England play at the moment. Surely a super motivated Iceland can beat those sick teams.

Well you obviously don't watch enough Ekstraklasa (I don't blame you though). Brozek was one of the top polish prospects in the early 2000s. A flop like many others.

Thank god for Zielinski and the new generation of talent (Wolski, Wszolek, Milik, Klich, Lukasik, etc) though. With some luck, some of them might turn into good/great international level talents like Lewandowski, Piszczek and Kuba. And that should be enough for the NT to at least compete and qualify for the Euro and WC on a regular basis. If nothing else, Poland would have a sick team on Fifa

*teams in bold have qualified; teams in italic have been eliminated

GROUP A
Macedonia - Scotland 1:2
Wales - Serbia 0:3

1. Belgium 22 +13
2. Croatia 17 +6
3. Serbia 11 +3
4. Scotland 8 -2
5. Macedonia 7 -4
6. Wales 6 -12

This group is already decided, today's games were meaningless other than prestige and to avoid finishing last. Belgium only need a draw in Zagreb to finish first. Even if they lose in Zagreb they will likely only need a draw at home to Wales.

GROUP B
Armenia - Denmark 0:1
Malta - Bulgaria 1:2
Italy - Czech Republic 2:1

1. Italy 20 +10
2. Bulgaria 13 +7
3. Denmark 12 -1
4. Czech Rep. 9 0
5. Armenia 9 -2
6. Malta 3 -14

Italy have qualified with two games to spare while the rest of the group is wide open but in contention to be the worst runner-up. Denmark with a crucial victory in Yerevan which keeps them alive and practically ends Armenia's realistic chances. Denmark close with two home games but one is against Italy. Bulgaria face Armenia away then host Czech Republic. I give slight advantage to Denmark

GROUP C
Kazakhstan - Sweden 0:1
Austria - Ireland 1:0
Faroe Islands - Germany 0:3

1. Germany 22 +21
2. Sweden 17 +6
3. Austria 14 +8
4. Ireland 11 0
5. Kazakhstan 4 -13
6. Faroe Islands 0 -2

Germany haven't officially qualified yet but shouldn't have problems closing it out. Sweden vs. Austria will decide 2nd place

GROUP D
Romania - Turkey 0:2
Andorra - Netherlands 0:2
Hungary - Estonia 5:1

1. Netherlands 22 +20
2. Hungary 14 +6
3. Turkey 13 +7
4. Romania 13 +1
5. Estonia 7 -10
6. Andorra 0 -24

Netherlands have already qualified, Turkey's win in Romania throws a monkey wrench into this group. Hungary go away to Netherlands before hosting Andorra. Turkey visit Estonia before hosting Netherlands. Romania go away to Andorra then host Estonia. Romania have the easier fixtures, Turkey host an already qualified Netherlands so they have their chances.

GROUP E
Norway - Switzerland 0:2
Cyprus - Slovenia 0:2
Iceland - Albania 2:1

1. Switzerland 18 +9
2. Iceland 13 0
3. Slovenia 12 +1
4. Norway 11 0
5. Albania 10 -1
6. Cyprus 4 -9

Switzerland very close to qualifying automatically but the rest of the group is wide open. Iceland host Cyprus then go away to Norway. Slovenia host Norway then go away to Switzerland. Norway go away to Slovenia then host Iceland. Albania host Switzerland then go away to Cyprus. Too hard to call right now, anybody can beat anybody in this group.

GROUP F
Russia - Israel 3:1
Luxembourg - Northern Ireland 3:2

1. Russia 18 +11
2. Portugal 17 +8
3. Israel 12 +5
4. N. Ireland 6 -6
5. Luxembourg 6 -12
6. Azerbaijan 5 -6

Two-way race for first place with Russia having control in their hands. Russia have to road matches against Luxembourg and Azerbaijan. Portugal host Israel and Luxembourg.

GROUP G
Lithuania - Liechtenstein 2:0
Slovenia - Bosnia 1:2
Greece - Latvia 1:0

1. Bosnia 19 +20
2. Greece 19 +5
3. Slovakia 12 +2
4. Lithuania 8 -3
5. Latvia 7 -8
6. Liechtenstein 2 -16

Bosnia very close to their debut World Cup because of GD. They host Liechtenstein then go to Lithuania. Greece need BiH to slip up in Lithuania most likely and they must win both remaining matches; Slovakia at home and Liechtenstein at home or hope to make up the massive GD. Greece have only scored 9 goals btw in 8 matches

GROUP H
San Marino - Poland 1:5
Ukraine - England 0:0

1. England 16 +22
2. Ukraine 15 +15
3. Montenegro 15 +7
4. Poland 13 +9
5. Moldova 13 +9
6. San Marino 0 -42

England's draw in Ukraine means they control their own destiny with two home matches against Montenegro and Poland. Ukraine go to Poland then face San Marino at home. Montenegro go to England then host Moldova. Poland must win both their remaining matches to have a chance; Ukraine home and England away

GROUP I
Georgia - Finland 0:1
Belarus - France 2:4

1. Spain 14 +8
2. France 14 +6
3. Finland 9 -1
4. Georgia 5 -5
5. Belarus 4 -8

Spain have a game in hand and their last two fixtures are at home; Belarus and Georgia. France's last fixture is home to Finland

RUNNER-UP TABLE
1. Greece 7 16 +4
2. France 7 14 +6
3. Iceland 7 13 0
4. Ukraine 7 12 +6
5. Portugal 6 11 +3
6. Sweden 6 11 +3
7. Croatia 6 11 +3
8. Hungary 7 11 +1
9. Bulgaria 6 7 0

Group B seems to be in most trouble, runner-up of Group D is also not secure. Even Croatia not totally secure looking at their last two fixtures (Belgium home, Scotland away). Group E could still be in trouble, especially if Iceland don't finish 2nd

Actually. We could draw both and still go through.

Would require Moldova drawing with Montenegro though. And results going our way.

Being honest though, both of those are at home. We'll beat Montenegro and probably draw with Poland.
