Don't think he'd be a good GM but in King's role he could at least help us win a few trades and get a rebuild going

I love Burkey. I think he'll do wonders for the Flames organization.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Based on combined efforts of @Real_ESPNLeBrun, @DarrenDreger and myself, here's what we know to be fact regarding Brian Burke to CGY rumors:

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Burke is deep into discussions to join the Flames in an executive position but it is not, as of this moment, done.

I think if Burke joins the flames it will be in a president like role replacing ken king, I don't see them firing feaster now after that let him be the gm for the whole summer and they trusted him enough to be gm in the franchises biggest draft, I just don't featser going whether we like it or not.

At last years conn smyth dinner brian Burke had an interview with sportsnet and said he wanted to join another organization and "haunt" the maple leafs. What better way to haunt the maple leafs than offer sheeting nazem kadri??? I could actually see Burkie doing something like that if he is given a pig role like president, kadri is Burke's draft pick and he knows the leafs can't afford an offer sheet.

This. Weiabrod and the scouting staff has done a tremendous job so far, and I'd rather they stay.

This would be awesome lol. As long as its not a big contract, it would be hilarious if he did it just to do it, even though they would match.

He'd do a great job in any role, President/GM... or both. Wouldn't mind seeing Feaster get canned and promoting Jon Weisbrod to GM. Burke can work closely with Weisbrod and shield the management group from 'hands-on' ownership.

For the whole summer, wow. Little Jay's growing up fast.

If Burke takes over as President of hockey Ops, I wonder how long Feaster stays on as GM. I think first mistake he makes, he's a goner.

@SUNRandySportak: Airport stakeout to talk to Brian Burke yielded this "I'm not going to have any comment about this tonight. Sorry you had to camp out here."

Isn't Bob Hartley Feasters guy though? So if Feaster is out that would mean Hartley and his fun system to watch would also be gone, no?

Read all of the things. Feaster likely isn't going anywhere.

I really don't think this is any indication that Feaster is out. If it was, I feel they would have gotten rid of him much sooner. Personally I'd like to keep JF around and believe he is severely mistreated by fans of all teams. Three options in my mind:

A) Burke is not hired, nothing happens
B) Burke is hired as President of Hockey Operations
C) Burke is hired as General Manager and Feaster is "promoted" to President of Hockey Operations

That makes sense. Thanks.

I'm actually very much for this move if it happens. I've always liked Burke, especially with his bluntness with the media. I also see him in a President of Hockey Operations role, with an unofficial "next in line GM" position.

The only thing I fear is somehow, someway, he'll push for Wilson to join the organization and that I cannot accept.

I think Burke is an excellent GM, whatever others say. Loved him in Toronto and wish he was still here (though Nonis is okay). Happy for you guys if you get him.

No doubt Burke make the leafs so much better, comparing the roster before he came to when he left is unbelievable. Amazing at trades, but brutal on free agent signings.

Better yet, bring back Sutter and fuse him in the mix.

Burke (Trading)
Weisbrod (Drafting)
Sutter (Free Agents)
Feaster (Signings)

Burbrotterster

This going to be awesome. I'd love to watch a Burke run team attack the roster issues with money! Kiprusoff's retirement leaves $14.5m (Flames are below cap floor!) for improvements. Of course, it's late in the day, but there are still a few guys unsigned. Burke is daring with the import players, too.

A Kadri offer sheet would be too funny. I hope this happens.

Burke doesn't do offer sheets.
