Congrats on the good news!

It snowed here last week…..but it melted the next day. Pre-thanksgiving snow just blows the worst. Almost as bad as the May snow we had this spring.

Idk I go to DePaul right now but I'm pretty bored to be honest.

I still want to get a degree, but I want to be motivated while I'm doing it.

If you go to the military......it is just harder to complete your education. I would recommend fighting through school.....we all have. It is not always fun and it is hard to be motivated the whole way though. You can always go to the Navy if it floats your boat afterwards. But please finish your education first.

Yeah idk. I'm a junior and grades and money aren't a problem right now. But the military helps pay for your education, so I'd want to take advantage of that.

I've always had a problem staying motivated and being responsible, so the military might be good for me. Plus you get to see a lot of places you otherwise wouldn't.

Everyone always says you have to finish your education right away, but there are lots of people at DePaul in their mid to late twenties. Most of them seem pretty motivated and know exactly what they want.

I've had a pretty easy life to be honest, and I need to learn how to work hard and get in a routine.

You don't have to finish your education right away, but completing a college degree will never be easier than in your early 20s. It took my brother a looooong time to get his bachelors while in the Air Force due to all of the time constraints between his job and his family. And he's had regular access to schools, internet, and cities, which would be much harder if you get deployed to sea.

I can't tell you one way or the other what's best for you. Just make sure that you've considered absolutely everything before you enlist. Getting out is a much bigger ordeal than getting in.

Finish your degree then go in as an officer which would be interesting. If you choose to go in. Just with this decision there is no getting out for four years. And as stated above it is really hard to complete your degree with your deployment depending on where. Remember....you can always join once you get your degree and it gives you time to make that choice and be more sure.

FYI....I went through OCS with the Marines between Soph./.junior and junior/senior year summers and declined my commission as graduation neared. It was a real pain in the ass to do and I don't regret not taking it. And I was able to decline and not go in which is not an option if you enlist. Another thing to think about where you can experience it and not be nailed down if they still do it that way now.

I'm going to go ahead and agree with everyone else and say finish now. School isn't going to get any more exciting or interesting in 5 years.

The more you make the more you'll spend. I just turned 26, and with a career, house, and daughter, going back for my bachelors is a total pain in the ass.

Glad I won't have to do that.

But getting the MBA shouldn't be much different.

Well, on a side note, I have a couple friends from college that both joined the Navy, and they're seemingly happy with it (one a surface fleet officer and the other a submarine officer).

My suggestion though would be to finish your bachelor's just so you'll have a leg up on becoming officer.

That was what I was recommending. It is the way to go.

I've been looking for some new tunes. I got hooked on some Third Eye Blind from the 90s. "Never Let You Go," "Jumper," and "Semi-Charmed Life" are the songs that I particularly like. If I were a betting man, I'd say you guys know those three.

Am I going soft? I usually listen to classic rock, grunge, and occasional rap.

I had a Third Eye Blind binge a couple weeks ago.

Jumper. All day.

It was magical.
