Kadri to Avs

Since we seem to have so much trouble signing Kadri, why don't we just trade him to Colorado for Ryan O'Reilly? He could be a fit for the Leafs. Please don't get mad at this proposal, it's only a suggestion

no thanks. O'Reilly's qualifying number for next year makes his trade value much lower

I'd rather not trade O'Reilly for someone who might not be able to replicate his breakout season.

Not to mention trading a C for a C is a dumb move for the Avs, fills no need whatsoever.

Why? Kadri's only asking for 3.5 for the next two years. He'll get signed for cheaper than O'Reilly and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he outscores him.

We have enough two-way centres, we need a 90 point playmaking centre and Kadri has the potential to become one.

No thanks. Rather stick with Kadri , his potential better suits the Leafs. Plus he's close to signing(only being 700k apart)

Its starting to feel like Kadri and Leafs brass aren't very far off in negotiations. I wouldn't be suprised if Nazem signed either today or tomorrow.

As for the proposal, we need an a offensive Kadri more then we needa more defensively-minded O'Reilly with Bozak, Bolland, and McClement being our other three centreman.

Both sides are better off with what they currently have IMO.

O'Reilly can't be traded until a year from when he signed his last contract which is late feb / early march. Kadri will have a contract way before then.

makes 0 sense for the avs we have a high producing center in duchene and mackinnon should be there in a couple years. maybe if kadri could play LW he might be a better option than o'reilly but having kadri at 3C would be a waste of his talents.

on the flip side makes no sense for toronto to have a 1C who may top out at 60~ points.

O'Reiley can't be moved till possibly after the deadline I imagine that because of the Olympics the deadline might get pushed back and he could be available around then but do the Avs actually want to trade him?

I don't think Kadri would like not playing until next February, which is how long he'd have to wait until O'Reilly could be traded.

In addition, the Avalanche have Duchene and MacKinnon alone, why would we add Kadri?

This doesn't make sense for either team. Toronto needs another Kadri more than they need an O'Reilly. God knows the Avs don't need another offensive, point producing, top 6 center.

Plus this couldn't happen until the deadline.

AKA...negotiating. Reports have the 2 sides 700K apart over a 2 year deal. I expect 2 years 6-6.5 mil. Lets just keep our own players for once.

No thanks. Kadri will sign for $6M over 2 years, and all will be fine with the Leafs cap

(I'm pulling this $3M number from the 3.5M that Kadri wants, and the 2.85M that the Leafs are offering. Kadri's camp will drop $500k and the Leaf camp will come up from their offer 150k)

Wow, is that really it? I was thinking he was wanting his payday now, $5m+ or something. They need to get that knocked out. You wait around too long and Feaster will **** everything up with an offer sheet.

Nope, the information a few weeks ago was suggesting that Kadri wanted a home run deal, but now it seems there's good reason that Kadri responded to a few of those reports on Twitter.

Here's a recent Sportsnet link: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/r...loser-to-deal/

I actually heard on TSN1050 this morning that they think Kadri will sign today and be in camp by tomorrow

In reality, if you have him playing with Phil Kessel and JVR/Lupul on the top line, and top PP minutes with those two, Phaneuf and Gardiner, that's probably not that unrealistic.

If he is putting up 90, Kessel is putting up 110. Thanks for more laughs.
