Irving signed by Jokerit (Tyrvainen's team).

@DarrenHaynes_CP
In case you missed it yesterday, after a stellar tryout, former #Flames goalie Leland Irving has signed a contract with Jokerit in Finland.

Any chance we're dipping in on Morrow to upgrade our bottom six? I kind of got this feeling like they're afraid to offend Smytty, and adding Morrow would, knocking him out of the lineup for a similar (but better) veteran.

I'd love Morrow on the team but at this point I'd rather acquire a fourth line centre than another winger.

I could actually see the Oilers sliding Smyth to centre if we signed Morrow and that is a scary thought.

I solidly believe Morrow would absolutely be the best option for 4th line LW on this team, heck even for 3rd line to be honest. We've got to many guys on the roster right now fighting for spots though and not enough cap space (I imagine he's going to get a decent amount of money.) He produced at a 45 point pace last year. Even if you completely discount his time with the Pens he was still on pace for 15 goals and 30 points with Dallas. I think he still has some game left in him.

Wont be here though.

Hell even 2nd line to provide more depth spread out in the lineup.

I don't exactly know why the Oilers haven't gone after him, maybe the player doesn't want to move his family out of the 'states.

Part of the issue is why does he want to come to Edmonton?

There is just so much going against Edmonton for a player like Morrow. 1 he has no cup, Edmonton isn't winning the cup. 2 we have little cap space. 3 we have 7 top 6 wingers already.

I can see a guy like him playing for league min on a contender sooner than coming here for 2 or 3mil, which I don't think we could afford anyway.

@SabresPR: Additionally, the #Sabres have release forward Colton Gillies from his PTO contract.

@LavoieRenaud: Coyotes cut Guillaume Latendresse. He had a good camp but Coyotes have other options.

@LavoieRenaud: Coyotes had until this weekend to make a decision on Guillaume Latendresse. That way he can look at other options.

I wouldn't mind giving him a quick shot. The guy has no puck skills whatsoever, but he hits everything that moves. Maybe he becomes the next Matt Martin, can't hurt to take a look.

He'd also be cheap, and give us extra competition for the 4th line.

I'm hearing the St. Louis Blues are the team that made Brenden Morrow the offer he is contemplating. He played for Hitch & Armstrong in Dal

Anyone thinking we could maybe offer Gagne a 1-year cheap deal? We could roll 3 scoring lines then. Obviously he'd need to pass a physical first, but I think he could help us out.

A pylon with a stick and mullet taped to it is a better option than Smyth at this point

Stauffer said the other day that he was originally told 'Bee-lov', and now that Belov is with the team he's been told its now Bell-ov. If you hear him still saying Beelov it's probably just what he's been used to calling him.

Steve MacIntyre is on waivers.

Won't be shocked if they make a claim here

I sincerely doubt the hockey intelligence of anyone who thinks we should pick up MacIntyre. Why waste a spot on the bench for someone who can only play 5 minutes a night and on someone who won't fight?

Everyone says we have dreadful depth. Signing a oaf with heavy mittens doesn't help it.

I'd do it just to watch him kick Kassian's ass.

Completely agree with you.

I'd rather have players that can play the game of hockey instead of being bounty hunters. This isn't the 80's anymore where Gretzky can make a pylon look like a great 1st line player. Move away from this idea and get **** disturbers who play the game and help the team win.

If you want to look into stats, a team concedes a goal 54% of the time after a fighting major. Statistically, it is not proven that it helps the team win.

The priority is to WIN! SMack or other goons don't help with that.
