Leaf fans seem agreeable to moving Colbourne for a reasonable price. Musil or Musil + a later pick?

Maybe they will work out a package deal with Franson as well. Cody turned into a pretty awesome defenceman last year but if the Leafs can't sign him they should just trade the guy and be done with it. He would help the Oilers big time

He's probably much closer to an NHL centre than any one of Arcobello, Acton, or Lander.

Play Hall as 1 C

Play Ebs as 2 C

Smyth-Hall-Hemsky
Perron-Ebs-Omark
Joensuu-Gordon-Jones
Brown-4c-Eager(or put R.hamilton somewhere in there)

Carry Acton as the extra forward

and voila

You guys dont want Colborne. No bottom 6 ability and is terrible offensively.

Then trade Yakupov to a team for a bag of pucks I assume?

Meh to Colbourne. Might grab him off waivers or for a late round pick. But not one of our actual prospects. MacT better do something. We can't afford to play 10+ games without our top 2 centers. Can't fall behind early in the season or its just another year lost.

If RNH isn't ready to go, I'd go with Wellwood. Guy's got good offensive instincts and wouldn't look too bad with Eberle and Perron. But if Gagner's only out for a couple weeks, and RNH is back the first week, I'd just ride it out.

Arcobello is a fine interim center until Gagner or Nuge is back. Just play that line against weaker comp temporarily.

Smyth - Hall - Hemsky
Perron - Arco - Eberle
Joensuu - Gordon - Yak
Hamilton - Acton - Jones

Or something like

Smyth - Hall - Hemsky
Perron - Gordon - Eberle
Joensuu - Arco - Yak
Hamilton - Acton - Jones

That would likely be too costly of a deal. Franson would be nice, but he isn't a necessity like a C is right now.

Calgary would pouch him prior to us. I'd do a later round pick or Omark or something trifling. Don't think it should cost us a Musil or Gernat, although I'm not high on either.

Maybe he just needs more Eakins, but Colborne discovered a defensive side to his game that rounded him out in the playoffs. He's a confused skilled 5'8 player in a 6'5 frame. I may prefer this choice over others depending on the cost, but he's got to be able to stick in the NHL. As it is, I don't see any of the potential 4th line centers to have proven their worth.

I'd do Omark for Colborne. What's the harm at this point. Sign Wellwood too.

It's not horrible (your lineup) - from what I've seen, Colborne is worse offensively than Arcobello, and pretty wishy-washy defensively anyways. Unless Eakins really likes him and wants to bring him here... Although I do say he'd be an improvement over someone like Acton. Maybe Omark + future considerations or something.

EDIT:
Just saying... (again)...
Joensuu-Hall-Hemsky
Perron-Prospal-Eberle
Smyth-Gordon-Yakupov
Hamilton-Acton-Jones

How much cap space do we have right now? It's pretty tight.

We have too many D though when we get down to our 7 d-men that should open up a little space (waive Potter already for crying out loud).

We have enough to ink Wellwood or someone if we have to.

Just go with Smyth-Hall-Hemsky and Perron-Eberle-Yakupov until we get Nuge back. Gordon stays at third line C and one of Arco, Acton or Lander as the 4th line C. If we're going to be a top team in the league in the future we will need the center depth that having Hall and Eberle can provide in an emergency.

That would be ideal but they have to trade somebody like Nick Schultz first.

Signing Prospal makes too much sense, therefore it won't happen,
