Favorite Sabres Moment of '04

With hockey season only 3 months away (i'm HOPING), I thought it'd be cool to bring up some of the good memories of 04.

My favorites:

The 4-3 OT win vs the Lightning. Even though Biron gave up 2 goals late, buffalo still held onto win with a great Satan to Briere breakaway.

The 4-3 comeback win vs the Panthers. Were down 3-0 in the 2nd and came back and won.

That was my favorite. Down here in MD, it's so rare I get to see a Sabres game live, and that was a beauty. Max and Miros hat tricks were a real treat.

The comeback against Florida is number one for a selfish reason. It's the only game I made it to that season.

Drury's goal against Colorado certainly stands out.

Not really a major moment but something that I just can't shake is Jillson taking out Brendan Witt in the first period of his first game as a Sabre and a couple nights later taking on a Thrasher thug (I don't remember which one) who'd just taken a cheap shot on Janik.

Ronald Petrovicky i think?

Jillson really impressed me in those first few games. He has the tools, and i think he can be a good player.

Noronen's Goal.

Buffalo trailed the Leafs 3-0 in the second period, and came back to win 6-4. Capped with goal credited to Noronen.

-The new years game against Washington. (Was there personally)

-Mika Noronen's goal against Toronto.

-Andrew Peters dropping Tie Domi.

-Come back game against Florida.

-Dismantling of Atlanta on kids night. (Non-televised game was perhaps the best of the season. Pleanty of goals and beat downs. Buffalo/Atlanta games are always entertaining. Let's hope they meet in the playoffs.)

-Afinogenov's spin 'o rama goal against TB in a losing effort.

-Coming from behind to destroy LA. (Chasing Cechmanek out of the goal.)

-Derek Roy's OT goal against Carolina to keep the playoff hopes alive.

-Satan undressing Belfour. (The famous "phone call" goal.)

-Jeremy Roenick whining after taking a loss to our Sabres.

Oh man. That was great.

I watched the game sitting in the bar at the ESPN Club in Walt Disney World. Who was seated at the next table over? Leafs fans. That made it even sweeter.

That whole weekend was great, when they scored 21 goals in 3 games. Certainly fun to watch.

Everything else I can think of has been mentioned already.

Boynton's dump in goal from 200 feet was my favorite.

I like the Bruins, but I follow the Sabres as well because they are near me. Miroslav Satan's absolute ownage over Belfour where he made Belfour look like a total idiot. That one was a good moment.

Made sure I made it to as many games as possible since I had a feeling would have been no season, including 6 of the last 7 (missing the game in NYC vs Rangers). Was at most of the games mentioned, but would throw in two 6-0 beatings - the Caps the day after the deadline (Grier with a goal and an assist, started a really good Let's Go Buffalo chant that game, it's bad when we outsound the Caps *cough* fans) and the Columbus game the last week of the season.
