What the hell has happened to Nick Markakis? I know he has never reached his 2007-2008 levels and lost some of his power but he was still putting up an OPS+ of over a 100 ever year (mainly due to a good BA).....this year though he has a .687 OPS and a OPS+ of 87. Just one of those years??

unless you work for espn, you should provide a source when you use someone else's work.

Really wish umpires would use more common sense with ground-rule doubles. In the Toronto game Lawrie was running from first since it was a 3-2 count with two outs, Encarnacion blooped one down the right field line that hopped over the fence....but even though Lawrie was rounding 3rd base when the ball went over the fence he had to go back to 3rd. IMO the umpires should have given him home since he would have obviously made it.

Scherzer won't get win #20 again, Royals tie it at 2.

TB already up 3-0.

Francisco Liriano loses the no-hitter in the 7th and now may be in line for a loss.

Hopefully this will be his first no-decision of the year.

edit: Morris gets the next three guys so this will be Liriano's first no-decision of the year.

I can't help but wonder if Liriano's 23 consecutive decisions to start the season is some sort of completely useless record.

Avila homers in the 8th. 3-2 DET.

Final. Royals probably need to run the table now, or at least sweep 2 series this week when they face CLE and TEX at home.

Morneau with a pinch-hit single to bring McCutchen in wins it for the Pirates. Kyle Farnsworth, of all people, is quietly doing really well for the Pirates and picks up the win.

Cubs gonna Cubs...Rizzo forgot how many outs there were in the top of the 8th and ran to third on a fly out to right field with just one out. Once that happened you knew the Pirates were going to score in the bottom half of the inning.

I have no idea why Cincy has all the trouble in the world with the Braun/Hart/Ramirez-less Brewers, but they do. 5-5 in the 9th.

Whoever Sean Halton is, he wins it for the Brewers. That's a terrible loss for Cincy. They went 4-6 against the mostly AAA version of Brewers the last month or so.

The Rangers collapse is continuing today, OAK up 3-1.

Whoever Josmil Pinto is, he just became quite popular in about 5 AL towns. 6-4 Twins after his homer. Perkins saves it

Oh Zach Duke, I could kiss you. The fact that man is on the Reds roster right now gives me endless entertainment...so awful.

The Reds fall to 3 behind the Pirates and Cardinals now (assuming the Cards don't blow their 10 run lead in the 9th). Think those 6 games remaining against the Pirates are kinda important?

5-1 A's now.

If I were Daniels, I'd consider pulling a 2008 Brewers and firing Washington NOW. They play @ TB and @ KC next.

The Orioles played their 113th errorless game today, tying the 2008 Astros for the most in a season since 1900.
Texas fading... They could bounce back though.

That's run for second wild card is pretty amazing.

The Pirates and the A's have both swept the Rangers in the same week. I did not expect, nor think, that would happen. I agree, it might be time to fire Washington now.

Buccos' magic number for a Wild Card clinch is now 6.

4 with the Padres up next while St. Louis heads to Coors. Would love to see Bucs take 3 of 4 & hope the Cards will mess up at Coors, where the Rockies still are fairly tough.
