Uehara is ridiculous right now. When's the last time a closer made guys look this helpless? Eric Gagne?

Also, that Jose Fernandez home run is beyond awesome. One of the best things I've ever seen.

Why is Hernandez in this game for TB right now?

Bases loaded, 1 out after he walks Napoli.

As soon as I saw Hernandez come in I knew it was game over, didn't envision a GS but knew runs were going to be scored.

Fauxsto walked the first guy on four pitches to load the bases. Fifth pitch was a grand slam. That's about as bad a relief appearance as possible.

This game is why I'm a fan of pitching the closer tied on the road. The next inning can't be a higher leverage/lower margin for error spot than the current one.

Trout has his own thread. Carp should have his own thread.

I'm pretty sure there's a Bass with San Diego.

The AL wildcard is heating up alot more than I thought it would. KC won't go away.

Edit: Holy carp 18-3 Oakland!? I wouldn't want to be Clowe Me's underpants right now.

Yeah, this. Not surprised Braves fans would get butthurt over it, though.

Anyways, glad the A's took care of business quite well tonight. Last night, I said losing to them is worse than losing to the Astros. They're easily a worse team than Houston right now. Horrid pitching and they're basically trotting out a double A lineup. Really no excuse to not beat them handily.

Don't want a pitcher staring at his homer? Don't give one up to him.

While I don't have an issue with what Fernandez did I can see why Braves would get upset. You hit a home run, just take your ****ing bases. Just not a fan of showboating in general.

I'm pretty sure they had more of an issue with him spitting near Chris Johnson than admiring his hit. Or atleast that's what I was lead to believe.

This one's tough for me cause a Brave stared and watched his homer, and Chris Johnson was jawing with Fernandez the entire AB, and even after he flew out and went back to the dugout. I'd have to know what led to all of this before saying for sure who I'd side with. Seems like the Braves were upset with something Fernandez was doing on the mound. Not sure if maybe he gets too demonstrative when he Ks guys or whatever. I'd have to see some footage of that. That aside, I'm fine with what he did. All I saw was a Brave admire their homer, Johnson run his mouth at him, and then Fernandez get his revenge. But again, I'm not sure if I have the whole story. Seemed like an over exuberant kid.

I still watch the O's every day, but it's obvious they're starting to fade and they don't have enough to close the gap, and get in front of the Rays. Hopefully they will improve next year with Gausman and a healthy Bundy. Starting pitching is a problem. And of course, their bullpen luck disappearing (going from a top 5 relief core, to a middle of the pack group).

They've got some absolute studs. Davis, Jones, Machado are all amazing. Weiters still provides more value from C than most. Hardy is good, Markakis struggled this year, but still not bad. McLouth has been great this year. Don't know what they'll do for next year, but I don't think they can come back with exactly the same group and expect a different result.

It's pretty fortunate that when a major cog in the Cardinals lineup goes down, it happens to be the only position that far and away their best bench bat could play.

I heard that the Braves were upset from the beginning that Fernandez was smiling and such after every out which is why Johnson chirped him even before the HR.

From what I understand, this is pretty much how it went down. And for the record, after the game, Jose apologized to the Braves for his actions. It was a learning experience for him. It was his last game & the emotions got the best of him. And btw, to all those Josť haters (who I believe are a very small minority, the kid is a breath of fresh air), the entire MLB Network panel took HIS side & were actually upset that he apologized.....said there was no need for him to do it.

Gotta love Johnson sprinting in from 3rd to immediately hide behind the umpire. What a ****ing idiot.

And nice job Texas getting swept at home.

you know, if these unwritten rules are so important maybe someone should have written them down.

btw, bastion of morality and archduke of hiding behind umpires, chris johnson to fans after a big homerun a few weeks ago against the mets in a seemingly meaningless otherwise game:

Were Mets fans really that loud that they required a directive?
