Grebs is horrible. Amusing that the club even went that way again. Not sure what they're thinking. I'll be happy to wave bye bye to Grebs a 2nd time. Been kinda surreal to see him here again.

Grebs is so frustrating.

He made some gorgeous plays on offense, and some horrendous gaffs on defense.
It's easy to say "you gotta go with the skill because you can teach the gaffs out of him"
But he isn't a 21 yr old. If he hasn't learned by now he never will!

The ol' cliche. Dangerous in both ends of the rink!

Who cares when the AHL camps start up. Trim the roster, get down to business, and lets see what actual prospective Oiler lines end up looking like. We're not playing these NHL exhibition contests for the benefit of AHL players imo.

It's the second (or third, I suppose) preseason game of eight.

Is this your first preseason or something? Do you not know that every NHL team carries a lot of these players, sometimes into the second last game?

Grebeshkov needs an absolute rock for his defensive partner because he was Cam Barker bad against the Flames on D. He had better not be guaranteed a spot on the club because if he continues to really suck he needs to be cut.

I'm really looking forward to getting to see Moroz and Klefbom at this level finally.

IMO it's important to get your potential call-ups time with the team and exposure to a near NHL caliber game. It also serves as good experience for the younger kids and shows them how far they have to go.

Not every NHL team is hopeless, has several new players, and needs to build chemistry fast and hit the ground running.

If I'm managing this club I'm looking to get any possible advantage out of the gate and getting rid of the deadwood fast.

Alternately I guess we can just see how half a dozen or more new players fit into the lineup and watch the confusion for the first 10 games of the regular season..

Theres an opportunity here to gain familiarity, find lines, pairings SOONER rather than LATER.

Which option do you think would be most successful.

Exhibition season is as sham anyway and all but a few positions are probably already written down and locked up.

Is Moroz the only junior player left? I suspect he'll be sent down after this next game.

Agreed.
These games are to see who our 6-7-8 dmen are, who is our 4th line centre, and who are our bottom 6 wingers.
Every player in the running for those spots should be in the lineup every night.
Those players with positions locked up should get 4 games to knock the rust off.

Taylor Hall should be spanked, and sent to his room.

LaBarbera

Should be the last NHL preseason game for the bolded

Larsen, Klefa, Bachman should be around til the game vs Rangers on 24th before getting the axe. Moroz and Bachman might get another look as well.

Switch Grebs to forward. He could be a Russian version of Gagner. Keep Hall at center. Trade Sammy to Toronto for Gardiner or Kulimen +.

No, you're not going far enough - Convert Hall to Goalie, have Dubnyk line up as a power LW, and resign Gretzky.

I wonder if Abney is dressed to go dish some payback for Morrisey's gooning of Houck ?

Grebs is just one of those early MacT decisions that are highly dubious and make me wonder how bad of a gm he will be. Hopefully his good moves will out number the bizarre ones.

I doubt it. That's not something the Oilers tend to do.

That might be the softest, most defensively incompetent defensive pairing we've iced since the Cam Barker era.

If I'm not mistaken they've only cut 2013 draft picks so far, all of them but Nurse.

I think Ryan Hamilton will be one of the last cuts. He's Eakins type of player and there's even a decent chance he makes the final cut on the initial 23 man roster.

Khaira is also here I believe ...

... but the Silvertips already have him listed on their roster. He'll be playing left wing, and will be wearing #7.

Nah, that's just how bad our forward prospect depth is.

I think its pretty obvious why Grebs is here. Without Whitney who is our Offensive D here? Ok, Petry ... then?

I'm interested in seeing Moroz get some better ice time with the Oil Kings.

The way I picture him, is topping out as a bottom 6 winger.
I'd like to see him get some offensive ice time in junior. See if he can be a 30 goal 2nd liner in junior.
Then two or three years in OKC as he learns defensive responsibility. Then hopefully he can be a uber tough 3rd liner who can score 15 on the third line.
I suppose a game now so he can see how much better NHL players are, can't hurt, but I think we are wasting a roster spot we could be using to evaluate a player who has a chance to make this years team.

I know i'm making a bigger deal then I should.
