Pens - Blues Megablockbuster involving Crosby and Pietrangelo ++

Okay, let's talk this through hypothetically.

Say, Blues can't seem to come to term with Pietrangelo and two sides decide it's time to move on. Do u think an offer of Pietrangelo ++ would be enough to get Pens on the phone.

To Penguins
- Alex Pietrangelo
- Patrick Berglund
- Alex Steen
- 1st in 2014

To Blues
- Sidney Crosby

That makes sense. It's time for the Blues and Pietrangelo to go different ways. Therefore, he should be traded for the most valuable player in the world.

Sure maybe a top prospect or two could be added from Blues side and salary dump going Blues way could even things out, all around.

Not trying to rude but Just want to hear people's opinion on why this is way off.

It's horrible for the Pens. Entirely. Don't try to rationalize or defend it, it's completely terrible.

Since your a Leafs fan, I'll make a proposal for Crosby to the Leafs. Actually, I can't, no group of players even convinces Shero to listen. Even if the Leafs offered Kessel, Rielly, Gardiner, JVR, Bernier, Phaneuf and 5 1sts, the Pens wouldn't accept it, or even consider it.

There is no team in the NHL that has the assets to convince Shero to move Crosby. He is simply untradeable.

Pens wouldn't accept Stamkos, Hedman, Drouin, Connolly, Kucherov, Valiseki (butchered that, meant their elite G prospect), Koekoek and 5 1sts. That's 3 top-3 picks, a top-10 pick, 3 other 1st round talents and 5 other 1sts. He is simply unavailable.

Change Crosby to Malkin and it's still a easy no.

Please, me being a Leafs fan has nothing to do with this proposal.

I just want to see Blues contend for cup because they are a solid and deserving club and at the same time, I want Pens to continue be a consistent cup-contenders. Remember guys, Pens still have Malkin and without Crosby they were still a solid hockey club.

I don't think losing Crosby while acquiring a player of Pietrangelo's calibre would really make them worse as some of you are making out to be.

If you added Tarasenko then I think the value would be close.

Dude, this trade is not even close.

the second best piece is a freaking second line center.

You could honestly add a legit first line center to Pietrangelo and it wouldn't get the job done.

Add like 3 more 1sts and I think we're entering the realm of realism.

"Value" of the OP isn't bad but it's hard to really speculate because it's so obviously not going to happen.

Only reason the Pens would trade Crosby is if they were starting a full rebuild for some reason and the Blues were ready to win the Cup this year, which means that something like ...

Pieterangelo
1st 2014
1st 2015
1st 2016
1st 2017

... would make more sense.

I actually think that would get the deal done.

Malkin and Stamkos down the middle. You add Drouin who should be a stud. Hedman is a 1st pairing shutdown guy and obviously St. Louis.

Plus the first.

I actually, dare i say, think that this would be overpayment from Tampa. Not that they would gut there team regardless, but you are getting like 3 all stars, a top 5 pick and another 1st.

The difference between Stamkos and Crosby, isn't what i posted, in fact, it's probably less.

But i did that as a joke, just to prove to the guy that there are teams that could acquire Crosby if they lost all their marbles.

You can't just throw a bunch of players together. There's this thing called a salary cap.
