Those aren't the lines that Garrioch tweeted today. Are we off a day ? Anyways I don't think those are going to be close to what we begin with.

Greening was 4th on the team in goals last year (2nd among current Sens), and 5th the year before.

Condra has never outscored either.

The likelihood of him being traded soon seems pretty darn slim to me. Maybe you know something significant though, other than that he was (a) re-signed recently; and (b) was an effective regular on this team last season.

Signing a guy and then trading him before he plays a single game on that new contract doesn't seem like a Bryan Murray-type move. Murray is all about doing right by the player.

As such, I doubt we see either Condra or Greening moved any time soon.

Doesn't make a difference. Pretty much the whole roster has been either recently signed, acquired, given an extension or made the team through working their way up the system.

MacLean and the Murray's have stated multiple times that the best players will play and that they have no problem moving bodies to make room for young players.

I'd be really disappointed by this. And it would quickly become a steal. Would be a bad move by Murray to only get a 5th for SDC. IMO he has much more value than that, 2nd line center potential and maybe even more. His vision is elite and most of his skills are pretty darn good

That being said, I really think they don't want to lose Da Costa for nothing, so they'd probably waive O'Brien or leave Pageau in the AHL for now to avoid that

Murray should trade Da Costa for a conditional pick. The condition should be based on performance. For example a 2nd round pick if Da Costa puts up 40+ points and a 5th otherwise. Or a conditional pick that fluctuates based on a series of performance accomplishments (4th for 20+ points, 3rd for 30+ points, 2nd for 40+points).

I don't think you're allowed to tie in conditions to player performances, according to the current CBA/NHL rules, IIRC?

I dunno. I'd have to look it up.

With our injury luck, I'd rather not start trading away guys like Da Costa. I know as it is we are deep at center, but it only takes 2 injuries and we may really need his skills. Hope it won't happen, but if I'm Sens management, you prepare for it.

No Hoffman, no Da Costa...

Could be nothing. Could be a tip.

We'll also probably get some vague explanation like a "maintenance day" or something.

When they gave Zibby a look at wing, I immediately thought his best place was next to Spezza. Spezza is notorious for talking to and molding his wingers constantly. Zibby would essentially be a blank canvas for him - give them some time to develop chemistry and it could be a very dangerous line. Spezza and Ryan would draw a lot of attention and Zibby could find some space for that shot...

Zibby also has some speed that compliments that line well.

That would by a line of all RHS that use long, low-lie sticks. They would all handle the puck a particular way, would be funny to watch.

Spezza has done some of his best work with left-handed snipers. I really think that Conacher should be given a look on the top line with Ryan and Spezza. Speedy, tenacious, pesky...he's not afraid to go to the net and he's got tons of skill.

I really wish they'd try Conacher - Spezza - Ryan.

My line-up would be something like...

Conacher - Spezza - Ryan
MacArthur - Turris - Michalek
Greening - Pageau - Zibanejad
Condra - Smith - Neil
