So he fits the slide rule. It's the smart business decision to keep him under 10 games this season so the Hawks get the extra year on his ELC and RFA years.

Agreed. As usual, that intra-squad game was simply a game of exhibition shinny. I’d prefer that the Hawks play more early exhibition games against other teams … as a split squad with mostly prospects, to properly evaluate these players and give them more time to show their stuff. Some teams have already played 2 exhibition games. That said, there’s a lot of pre-season hockey coming up. I hope Pirri is able to play at 100 percent.

FWIW: Some notes from the first 2 periods I watched last night: Saad looked off his game… thinking too much, I reckon and he didn’t carry the puck much at all, playing center. First impression for me is: If this experiment continues, I reckon it will take some time for him to feel comfortable in that position. I hope Q abandons it quickly. I’d hate to see his game regress after a successful rookie year. Morin didn’t have a great game either from what I observed. …. but that’s the type of hockey that tends to make gritty players look more than a bit off and allows others to prosper (IE. the likes of Kane and TT). It looked like Winchester was itching to crunch somebody but he held back. I liked the play of Danault though and (like the rookie games in London) the puck seems to follow Terry Broadhurst. He’s likely the oldest of the prospects but I like him as a 4th liner so far. Not sure if he can take the physicality of the NHL though. Bollig scored a nice (sniper type) goal. If he could use that shot more, it would help his game immensely. And the SO goal by TT was impressive, mainly because if seemed so effortless.
Hopefully tonights game will be streamed from some source.

Not all games are on TV, know NHL Network is carrying 2-3 of the Hawks games.

Took me a long time to figure out what you were trying to say.

But no, I don't think his KNEE looks swollen or anything.

End the Saad experiment

Nothing wrong with giving it a look and providing some emergency backup experience, but Pirri has earned the right to have the chance to be the 2nd line center. I like Saad on the wing with his size and wheels. Let him grow into the role even more.

Exactly.

Also, Kyle Beach apparently finished 5th among hawks in the fitness test. His hard work has shown from what I have seen, hopefully he can make the jump soon.

Chris Kuc ‏@ChrisKuc 16m
#Blackhawks trim Gilbert, Fournier, Brown, Whitney, W. Brookbank, Mullane, Gleason, Nightingale and Shea from training camp roster.

I thought Mullane looked decent out there, but easy to see he wouldn't even come close to making it.

No surprises there. Of that bunch, I'd say Fournier has the most potential but he's probably a year in Jrs and another year or two in Rockford away. Really like the way that kid skates though - very smooth.

He is proving me wrong. The kid has been working on his game and fitness.

Mullane is almost guaranteed to be a good professional player.

But maybe not with the Blackhawks, if he ever sees significant NHL time at all.

He finished 5th. Down to 8% body fat according to reports.

Good for him and nice to see that the "light" has finally turned on for him.

I assume he will be in Thursday and I hope he makes a good showing of it. J Hayes, Morin, and Smith all look pretty good so far, so Beach has work to do.

"Pro league" for CBA purposes is only NHL/AHL/ECHL

Agreed. I think that the core should play very little. Coming off a Cup win and a lot of young guys that need ice time.

Been saying for a couple years give Beach time, he suffered a few injuries, had a couple of set backs. Kid has skill and a game that the Hawks could use, another big body to throw at the net and protect our guys with some skill is a good thing.

Saad like Kane and all the other guys we tried isn't a C and shouldn't be there. Get a true C and quite trying to put a square block in a round hole.

Kyle Beach protect guys?

He picks on smallest players and then turtles when confronted by opposing players his size or bigger. And what game does he have that Hawks could use? 4th line penalty machine with lax defense and lax effort!
