I bet because the ratings are down. Last year it was press release after press release about record viewership and now silence. League wide ticket sales are down this year.

I bet it's because the numbers have never been easy to get a hold of before the new year.

Not to mention Lepore doesn't really do anything now other than Tweet.

Actually, he got 2 real jobs with USA Today and Awful Announcing. The whole hockey media thing was just a gateway to actual work.

Still tweets ratings a good amount. I would know

I bet it's because it's a full season. You got numbers last year because it was 48 games. Nobody cares about the ratings of say the Bruins and Hurricanes on a Tuesday night in late November.

Right, that's what I'm talking about. He has real jobs now because of the rep he gained doing that for so long.

Any word on how HBO 24/7 did?
I seem to remember Rangers vs. Flyers producing disappointing ratings two years ago.

Does anyone know if there are city-by-city rankings? I'm particularly interested to see how NHL on NBC/NBCSN fares in cities that are candidates for expansion/relocation.

Certainly can't complain about that, especially as one of the team's markets didn't add into NBC's ratings.

18.0 for Detroit is monstrous when you consider that the market also has access to CBC.

I'd like to know how many in SE Michigan tuned in on CBC instead. The top Cup final ratings were north of 30.0, iirc.

Probably not that high. If I recall it was normally a 75/25 during the playoffs. That'd put it at right around a 24.0 total.

Then you have to estimate how many would have watched if they weren't at the game.

Winter Classic beats the Capital One Bowl head to head in New York. 3.3 vs 3.0. Nearly does what the Fiesta Bowl did, which got a 3.5 all alone at night.

Seattle had a 2.3 for the winter classic but Seattle's market was split since we too have access to CBC.

Seattle did beat Gator & Outback bowl in ratings

That is completely insane that the Winter Classic beat some bowl games.

Kind of surprised and disappointed that Denver wasn't in the top 10.

It depends on the teams playing in the bowl games. Example for seattle's market if it was WSU or UW in those bowl games no way the winter classic rating would be higher

If it wasn't for CBC seattle may have a chance at making top 10.

Is there any way of knowing what the cbc ratings were for the winter classic?

Vegas was a 2.6, right in the middle of the pack.

The top 7, all which broke 4.0, are DET, PIT, BUF, Dayton, STL, CHI, and the Twin Cities.

Then there's a whole lot in the 4-2 range. Dallas and LA were the bottom for NHL markets, at 0.9 and 1.1 respectively.
