MOJO Toronto says meetings conclude tomorrow...

http://www.640toronto.com/news/toron...nto_sports.cfm

"After another week of intense, hard work the talks between the NHL and the NHLPA will conclude tomorrow. The NHL executive committee has a scheduled meeting on Monday to go over the "deal in principle"; ratification will not happen by the owners on Monday, it may occur as early as Tuesday, depending up the review and recommendation of the NHL executive committee. Surely they will not turn away the deal. The NHLPA at this time does not have a ratification vote scheduled, but all that could change after tomorrow's meetings."

Actually Jeff Marek on Leafs Lunch (AM640) said the meetings will likely end tomorrow as well.

I've been following Eklund lately. Just about every thing he reports is from other publications.
He's doing spector's bit. He's rarely reporting anything of substance based on his own sources. I mean, do something Ek.

I've felt the same way. He's not really providing any exclusive information.

Perhaps there is nothing else to report. Most of the rumored details are out there.

It should be interesting to see whether he has interesting Free Agency or Draft day trade rumors once the CBA is sealed and delivered. We all know that the end is within reach (3-5 days) so reading anybody at this point will give you the same information. Trade rumours is where Eklund will make it or break it for me.

As well, you'll also notice that his little "THERE IS MORE INFO" blurb on the left hand side of the page has now been changed to "READY TO TALK FREE AGENT RUMORS???"...

I guess his 'sources' are running a tad dry at the moment?

What I dont understand about Eklund is when none of the media was reporting anything he would report all sorts of stuff, now the media has been coming out with all sorts of info in the past 2 weeks and suddenly all his sources went dry?

I'm sure that was a total coincidence.

How does anyone not know yet about his identity? I really don't care but it's pretty weird how he is still so secretive..

You mean Nils Ekman or Pelle Eklund?
And no it's none of the above. It's some guy who says he used to work at the NHL and then wrote a book that sold so well that he never had to work again, and now he writes hockey rumors

Apparently he's a former league and team (Quebec) employee based out of Philadelphia. And during his appearance on Jim Rome, he said that he's now employed in the entertainment industry. Who knows what that could mean.

You give a guy (Eck) a lot more respect they he'll ever earn. Does anyone really believe Larry Brooks cares about a rumor monger

Because he's some no-name kid in his parents' basement.

If this guy really was a writer with sources, someone probably would have figured it out by now given the radio appearances he has had.

Kinda like the people of Pompeii looking up at the growing smoke coming out of Mount Vesuvius and saying "Why's everyone getting so excited? There's been no eruption..."

This is taking entirely too long. This needs to end now. After this week there is no more time to sit around and wait for the CBA to be completed and ratified. We are long overdue in preparation for next season. Schedules need to be released next week, marketing, selling tickets and such this is all stuff that in a normal year would have started back in May.

If the owners ratify a deal this weekend, they should announce it, and dare the players not to ratify it

He's been ripping off Mojo 640 for a long time, it's nothing new.
