it's not even that. If they really don't trust each other that much that they can't announce a deal a month before the final draft is completed, and we have to wait for it to be set in stone, then when this is all over everyone who leads the way on both sides should step aside and next time around this needs to be done with people who trust each other. We can say what we want about what went on over the past 10 months, but the fact that this wasn't done over any point in the month of June is inexplicable and unexcuseable. If this was closer to being completed than the NBA CBA was then the fact we have to sit around and wait just because no one trusts each other enough than a deal in principle can't be announced, well that is just utter BS.

If this is really ending today, then a press conference needs to be held on Saturday at 11 am. These are business people just like anyone else and good business people don't lollygag around because they're scared the other side will hold things up for some inane reason. If this was happening with most businesses in the world, any smart businessman who had these people working for them probably would have them going on welfare a long time ago

For all the blather about how evil and stupid the Owners are/have been... you can certainly say they've learned their lesson. They don't trust the PA (at least under Goodenow and Saskin), and they'd be amazingly stupid if they did. I think when Goodenow and "his" team of merry men go onto greener pastures, and the NHL gets running under the yoke of players and owners, we'll see a healthier relationship develop. That is until the "real" books come to light and it turns out the players had always been correct!!! aaah ha ha ha ha haaaaaaa

Who would have believed that players would have been in this situation 20 years ago. Amazing turn of events.
