Semi-Annual Prospect Poll: #11 NYR Prospect

LW Anthony Duclair became our final second-tier prospect. easily won round 9. Fellow 2013 third-rounder Adam Tambellini is replacing him in the poll.

Please write who you want added to the poll, and give a reason for it. This makes the discussion here more lively.

WHO IS A PROSPECT: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect

HOW TO RANK PROSPECTS: Based on their value in a hypothetical trade or waiver draft. This takes into consideration a prospect's ceiling, how close he's to making it, his health, work ethic, the whole deal. Imagine there was a prospect waiver draft and you could keep only one prospect. That guy is our #1 prospect. Then imagine we had one more waiver protection. That guy is our #2 prospect.

The Butcher is the easy choice here.

Add Kantor, who could be a 4th line spark plug.

Buch, and after that I think we're down to 10% or less shots at the roster. Unfortunately Nieves does not seem to have carried over his play.

Add Andersson.

Its pretty interesting that there is such a clear "Top-11". you usually dont get that kind of level distinction when you get this far down into a prospect list.

This might be the biggest blowout of the poll, including the first round.

I would bet either Yogan or Hrivik becomes a bottom-6 LW. Also I think there is a good chance either Nieves or St. Croix become a middle-6 center.

I'm still not a Buchnevich fan, but it's gotta be him here on ceiling alone.

Would have said Nieves here not too long ago but he looks awful in NCAA.

Can we extend the second tier to include 6 prospects? Buch and Duc are pretty much viewed equally here. Plus, this round is an absolute blowout.

On St. Croix--when was the last time we had a forward make an impact at the NHL level after spending any significant amount of time in the ECHL?

I know you're still holding out hope for the guy, but I think the ship is heading out of port. It hasn't sailed yet, but it's getting close. He's an offense-first player that can't stick on the worst offensive team in the AHL. Does not bode well for him.

I agree. I have a lot more hope for Nieves to become a second, third or fourth line player then for MSC to do anything. That said, give him one more year.

Callahan would've landed in the ECHL had he not been an oversee in the OHL, and he is our Cajun. Different players, of course, but it isn't impossible to study in the ECHL and land in the NHL. His ceiling is high enough to hold out hope. I think if he makes it as a top-6 offensive center in Hartford next season, he will be viewed as a good prospect.

The Butcher has 93% of the vote, so I'm gonna call this one early and move on to the next round: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1581797
