I think that it's fairly obvious in the case of Girgs and Larsson that they'll be regulars for sure next season if not this one. But from what I've seen from Armia I have a feeling that between playing top line minutes in Rochester, and probably playing a decent amount of games with the Sabres this season, that he'll be a regular next year.
i wonder if Stokes Voodoo Theory applies to this scenario in the same way (vets making the team over younger guys who are better because of contract situations)... this could have disastrous affects on the lockerroom

yes but this time this team that does not need to be the case. giving leinno who most likely would have been bought if not hurt (almost unanimously agreed) and every one here seems to give top 6 minutes to him rather than the guys everyone knows will be our future. the best development for larsson and girgs is a regular shift in nhl. i could see if he had trade value ala(stafford) but he don't at the end of this year he will be bought out or on our team for three more years.

You're simply not living in any sort of reality.

I think Adam needs a change of scenery, like Gerbe.

He's on my trade list along with Miller, Stafford, Sulzer, Gauthier-Leduc, McCormick and possibly Ennis.

Waivers

Waivers start noon EST.

Lebrun stated Sunday was the deadline to clear in time for Monday. I think he is wrong. It takes a player 48 hours to clear if they are waived on Satuday or Sunday.

That's why you see Adam on waivers today.

If true then no waiving for Sulzer or McBain.

I'd think Zads back to juniors or to IR, and Flynn and Girgs back to Rochester. That leaves Sulzer and McBain as 7 and 8.

I'm leaning Larsson and Girgensons. Girgensons had been good, but 1st line minutes wouldn't hurt.

I think the Sabres need a center (Larsson) more than a wing (Flynn), but we should know by Monday.

I thought that too, but didn't anticipate the move of Ennis back to center.

I wonder if Rolston is making the same mistake as Ruff. No checking line.

I think game lineups and lines in practice this close to the opener generally offer a good window to what they're thinking.

I'm stumped by the interest to put Ennis back at C. I know they want him to have the puck more, but does that justify a weak defensive match-up against (almost always) bigger Cs? Can't he carry the puck a-la Vanek on a line with Larsson/Grigorenko and Leino/Stafford?

I don't like what's happening with Larsson. Should be a LOCK for this team.

Reminds me of the 05/06 start of the season. Sabres fans were up in arms about Pominville having to start the season in Rochester (and being waived to do so, no less).

He was called up mid-season and never looked back.

If the Sabres brass decides that it's better for Larsson to get top line duties in Rochester, then so be it. He'll be up due to injury and if his play deserves it, he'll stick.

Yeah, was surprised that Larsson isn't a lock. I certainly hope he either A: comes up from Roch soon or B: makes the team. But it seems like he's gonna end up starting in Rochester.

If SF27 is still around maybe he can answer this question:

What is Rochester's center depth behind Zigomanis right now?

I think it might be possible that IF they do decide to demote Larsson now, it might be due to positional scarcity in Rochester. If two/three guys are close (like Flynn, Girgs and Larsson)....then the one that gets sent down might be the one that Rochester needs more.

Waivers don't work like that anymore. It takes 24 hours regardless of what day a player gets put on waivers.

13.18 The request for Regular and Unconditional Waivers to Central Registry will be processed every day at 12:00 noon New York time. All Waivers will be subject to a 24 hour period during which a Waiver claim must be made (the "Waiver Period"), with such Waiver Period expiring at 12:00 noon New York time on the following day.

They have enough centers. Zigomanis, Varone, Ellis can play center. Adam as well.

I think it has more to do with Girgensons' high intensity game translating better to wing, and Grigorenko's improved work rate with Z as a linemate than AHL needs. Although by the looks of things, they weren't good last night.

Was Larsson at practice?
