Yes he is eligable. He did not play enough games last season to be considered a sophmore.

He'll never see enough TOI to put up the points to win it IMO.

Yeah, I don't think he'll be a finalist but he'll be a top 10 nominee for the award.

Interesting trade proposal. Kyle Calder did have a couple decent seasons with the Hawks- 59 points in 05/06. But I think he might have retired or is playing in the ECHL.

I don't think I'd do this trade but I applaud you for thinking outside the box.

Don't hold your breath, although I do wish the gang that were nonstop "Pageau! Pageau Pageau Pageau!" at last night's game when he hadn't done anything had held theirs, getting a little tiresome that chant, especially after a minute or so.

It was most likely a few of his friends, he always seems to have a close following at home games. What does it matter to you what people chant at games anyways? Better than sitting on their hands like most others there.

If Pageau is given the icetime he has so far earned, there's no doubt in my mind he can grab the Calder.

That's stretching it.

It's funny against the Habs but I'm not sure I would chant it all the time unless he scores or something.

If the question is "Is he technically eligible for the Calder", the answer is : Yes.

If the question is "does he have a shot at the Calder", my answer is: probably not, even if he has a great pre-season and makes the team, he probably won't have the opportunity (ice time, zone starts) necessary to beat out other rookies around the league who might be given prime opportunities to succeed in 1st/2nd line rolls.

Who are the preseason Calder candidates this year anyway? Always interesting to see that list and compare it to the end of year result

leaf fan here, coming in peace

Pageau wont win the calder, he wont get the minutes needed to put up calder stats

However, it would shock me if he didnt make this team. He was one of the best players on the ice in last nights game for either team. Plays with lots of heart from what I can tell

If I were a sens fan I'd take him over Zack Smith any day

Am I crazy to think Pageau had potential to be a game changing give and go winger?

I'm hoping for 30 pts and great defensive play if he plays all 82 games, hoping for more than that is realllly stretching it imo.

In my mind, Pageau is the kind of player who will play his way onto the NHL line-up during this preseason, and while he wont start out in a big time role, he'll earn his way into a big time role with the team.

Depending on how long it takes him to earn that role, yes, he could definitely win the Calder. I believe that he can earn a good spot and the time he needs to do it.

If Drouin takes Conacher's spot on the big line in Tampa, as opposed to someone like Purcell, I think the race will be a short one.

What a Debbie Downer. You prefer when our fans sound more like noise cancelling headphones? We/They are having fun, which, last I checked, is the primary reason for going to a hockey game in the first place (in addition to cheering on your team). The fact that it annoys Hab fans is just a great bonus.

I agree with this, and I really like Smith.

I wonder what the odds are that Pageau could become the second line RW we've been trying to slot in (or if Pageau could take Turris' spot on the second line C spot and have Turris play RW). So many decent young players, so few spots for them. Its a nice problem to have.

I just can't see Turris as a winger.

Pageau, because of his heart and drive and willingness to battle, more so.

I still think a guy like Zibanejad is better equipped.
