the on ice leader

its good to hear mess say that eric is the on ice leader

he seems to be accepting the fact that he can no longer do that
and is accepting a reduced role...very happy about that

I'm not so sure about that.....
I wouldn't be surprised if Sather had a little talk with the captain

wasnt lindros supposed to be the one ice leader {As well as the locker room leader} back in the mid 90's for a team?

if i recall that didnt go to well. The fact that he is the focus of this team is more than a little scary.

I somewhat agree, but he was supposed to be the leader as a 22-23 year old? Come on, how many kids that age can lead NHL teams to Stanley Cups?

We sometimes forget that during the '95 season when Lindros won his MVP award, he had just turned 22.

yeah and then disappeared during the biggest games for his team in the playoffs.

At 22 it was hard to expect but the player thornton has become was along the lines of who lindros was supposed to be.

But the fact was instead of getting better with age his game seemed to take a little step down every season after the 96 season until he wasn't even seen as the "man who was gonna lead them" in philly. Most people forget those whisphers were becoming yells even before he got knocked out of philly.
