Using a forward on the blueline on the PP ?

I'm wondering why the coaching staff is not trying to put a forward on the blueline on the second PP unit. Bouillon does not belong there plain and simple. I'm thinking that Brière, Galchenyuk or Eller could be giving a tryout with Diaz.

Or we stick with Bouillon ???

Do you... not remember Plekanec on the point like... what, 2-3 years ago?

Didn't Tanguay play there a bit as well in his short stint with us?

But he makes a point, we should try it. It would also let one more of the many deserving forwards play on the PP. Therrien likely wont however.

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Briere
Markov-Subban

Galchenyuk/Bourque-Eller-Gionta/Gallagher
Plekanec-Diaz

Not bad!

I'll take it over Bouillon.

I want Emelin on the 2nd PP unit when he's back but MT wants Bouillon because he was his PP QB... 18 years ago in juniors.

I don't think it was the bad. If there's one forward I would trust to play on the point on the PP it's Plekanec. He can't be worst than Bouillon.

I think emelin would be fine on the 2nd unit with Diaz. MT has never used him but the brief time he got under jm , he showed more than bouillon and gorges ever will

Bouillon has good offensive instict and as good stick handling but he isn't a great PP player because is shot isn't great and doesn't have all the skills required to create chances consistently.
I like to see Briere on the point (he is the only player that fit the bill) he has a good shot, is a great playmker and able to create chances.
Having Briere on the point also able us to use a bigger fw like Eller, Galchenuck, Bourque or Pacioretty in to play down low.

I would like if we did this too, but not Plekanec. I didn't overly like using Plekanec in that role a few seasons ago. I think Briere could do well there as someone else said. It's worth a shot, I would think. Bouillon doesn't belong there.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind trying Tinordi either, although if he coughed up the puck, he'd have a hard time catching up.

Subban should play the full 2mins on the PP.

Especially when he's now not good enough to play on the PK.

This is what I don't understand... If he's not going to play a single second on the PK, why not just give him the full 2 minutes on the PP...

He even scored

A Diaz-Plekanec duo wouldn't be bad. I wouldn't mind emelin too. I don't get why he hasn't been tried on the point yet. We have been Gorges and Bouillon before him

Anything but Bouillon, please.

Subban for the whole 2 minutes would be better than a forward imo. If our genius coach doesn't start giving him PK time that would at least allowed him to play 25 mins +...

While Briere's good hockey sense would make him a good option at the point, I think he's best used near the net.

What about playing Brolieu as a forward 5 on 5 and on the point on the PP? God knows we just love it when our coaches use defensemen as forwards

Yeah, I prefer Bouillon to Gorges, but that's not saying much. Plekanec actually might not be a bad idea to revisit. It would open some room for our younger forwards to get more time on the PP with him back there. And he can't be worse than Bouillon/Gorges offensively. I would be hesitant to put Galchenyuk there as I think his game is on the half-wall and he should be developing that rather than adapting to the point this early in his career. Briere is another option on the point, although I thought he looked alright on the half-wall in the first game.

Too young, gotta earn rispeck before.

I'm not againts it, though. I'm sure a guy like Galchenyuk would make this PP way better, more creative.

Gally's skills are best used on the half-wall, where he has the option of dishing or stepping in and releasing a hard wrist shot (which he has). I think putting him on the point would be a stretch.
