I left out him and Blake Clarke, not because I don't see them as top talents per se, but because I prefer a few other players more for the Leafs. No slight to Sami's son.

I really hope Perlini or Bleackley make it to us.

I've watched Clarke play 3 times so far and he was very underwhelming. He just isn't involved in the play enough and shys away to often, albeit very early and things can change quickly. I'm wondering if the snub from USA hockey has hurt his confidence.

This draft is just soo messed up. You can't really peg anyone any where because come draft day it might not be even close.

I want someone like Schmaltz, Draistl or bennett to fall through the cracks so we can get some skill, however these guys won't get a whiff of the NHL until 3 years down the line it seems.

Bennett is a guy I could see making the league as soon as 1 year. Probably the best two-way player in this class.

But yeah, I agree. It's not like last year, where the top 15 in October was essentially the top 15 come draft day. You get the sense everyone is shaky in their lists, and there seems to be a major lack of consensus.

If only we could have the chance to draft Sam Bennett. Perfect fit for us. Plays a great two-way game, plays with grit, and has tons of offence. Too bad he's likely a top 5 and possibly top 3 pick as of now. Hoping we pick closer to 30 at this point haha

What's the reasoning for not wanting Virtanen?

Keep an eye on Ryan Macinnis was watching the rangers game he looked sharp, he's still getting adjusted to the OHL game. He's really talented.

He's the guy who's going divide opinion the most this year. I was struggling to find appropriate spot to rank him. There's inconsistency issues, And I've also heard some attitudinal problems as well; But when I watch him, There's not too many players who have his combination of talent, size and speed in this draft.

I've 2 looks at him already, his skating is solid and his skill set and intelligence is high end, you very correct with the just adjusting part, he should take off offensively soon.

I think he will be gone by the time the Leafs draft next June, but I was impressed by Brendan Perlini, and also by his chemistry with Carter Verhaege.

Agreed. I'm waiting to see how he gets out after he has some games under his belt but he definitely has a good sense of slowly whats going on already early in the season.

Looks like the Oilers, Sabres, Flyers are making the Reinhart-Ekblad race interesting already. Pretty awful starts. I expect New Jersey to miss out on a lotto pick, what shambles they are in. Some pretty stinky looking teams to start the year.

I actually really like the kid but he's a tough read right now if he doesn't live upto his billing halfwaythrough the season my doubts will be justified but if he does show me what he's capable of my opinion on drafting him will change

He's also has a huge frame 6 3.5 only about 170 pounds, imagine once his weight catches up and he could still be growing

I'd love to hear your thoughst on some of the Q guys now and throughout the year. It's pretty cool hearing from someone who gets to watch them regularily.

I know you were one of the few people on the entire site who was pushing Poirier way back at the start of last year.

Yeah, I'll give some reports on Q players for sure. I've already catched a few games this year, but there's still a lot players from the Q for this draft that I haven't seen a lot. Watched a lot of MAAA last year so I've seen a lot of them play in MAAA but not yet in the Q. For example, Julien Pelletier that I posted in my post of players I'm pretty high. Was great in the MAAA last year, was a very good offensive producer and although not big, can trhow big hits. I haven't catched him in the Q yet, but he's off to a great start with Cape Breron (11 pts in 12 games). Looking forward to see him play in the Q.

I really hope fabbri falls to us. Quick and agile, very good hands in tight but my favourite thing about him is his smarts, very high hockey iq. He is relentless on the forecheck and Causes lots of turnovers, that part of his game will easily translate to the NHL.

Really like him as well. A very skilled offensively gifted hometown kid.
