Fighting: Helmet Removal Loop Hole

This was too funny.

Gallant and Barch are engaging in a fight and decide to take each other's helmet off before fighting to avoid the additional 2 minute minor penalty of removing their own helmets. The fight itself was pretty spirited.

Those tough guys are more than just a pretty face. And it's very clever for them to think that up before the 2nd fight.
I guess the NHL will amend that rule...

Better yet, they should delete it. It's over-protective, and a silly rule.

It kinda looks like Gallant said "no no wait, keep your helmet on. Take mine off, i'll get your's." Then he said something inaudible with his fists.

Yeah kind of a dumb rule personally, but it was hilarious seeing them take each others helmet off! Loved it just because of the rule!

Isn't it more dangerous to fight someone with a Helmet on from the damage to the hands?

More dangerous for hands, less dangerous for heads.

I don't get it. If they both take off their own helmets, the penalties offset no?
