What would the Capitals want from the Oilers for Neuvirth? He deserves another shot at #1 goalie spot and is young enough to last long term if he takes the next step, Edmonton needs someone to push Dubnyk or take the net from him.

If Grubauer were a year more developed I wouldn't mind it, but without this season's picture solidifying a little more I wouldn't dump Neuvirth and leave things to Holtby and a rookie unless the price is higher than what I approximate his value to be. Having two goalies with some semblance of playoff experience is better than one, and the younger of the two at that. That said, I'm also higher on Neuvirth than a lot of our board is, and I don't expect him to be done with his development curve just yet.

Long story short, I probably don't trade him unless you fill the biggest defensive need on the roster in a top 2/4 defenseman.

Holtby has been a slow starter in his career, both in the NHL and AHL. I'm confident he'll stabilize. I wouldn't trade Neuvirth before he does, but in a few weeks it's quite possible that he'd be available.

Once that happens:
Neuvirth for Nick Schultz ($1M retained) + 3rd round pick.

2015 2nd + Nick Shultz/Belov??

Probably not enough just can't give up 3/4 dmen. Talk in off season if klefbom or maracinin take steps I would consider a Moving a better dmen at that point.

I would retain max salary and add a late pick to sweeten.

I'm a fan of Belov, but he's a risk because he's UFA next year. Would love to have him though. What about:

Belov + 2nd + LaBarbera (you don't need him anyway and he'd do well as a spot filler in DC for now) for Neuvy.

Agree to all these proposals. You can also take Aaron Volpatti.

Absolutely not Belov. He's been our best d-man so far, I think we have a gem there. How about...

Neuvirith to Edmonton

Labarbera and N. Schultz (half salary retained) plus a pick to Washington

This confused me. This is certainly a plausible scenario.

Done, we can even make that a 2015 2nd if you want.
