tonight's game was special for me and my family. this was the first time in my life where i got to sit and enjoy Pirates post-season baseball with my parents. that may sound cheesy, but it's a big moment for all of us. i didn't get emotional but i'm about as happy as i've ever been. and to think it all came from a game.

Are we allowed to have HF Pirates avatars for the playoffs?

Feel free to move. I thought it was worthy of discussion.

Anyone go to the Pirates game last night? (looking for a ticket).

Does anyone have a ticket (season-ticket style) from last night's game with which they are willing to part? My daughter was born yesterday morning. Trying to get a ticket stub from the Pirates-Reds game and all 3 NHL games played last night.

Thank you.

Watching the game last night, I wish my grandmother was still alive. She was the biggest Bucco fan I ever knew. Win/lose it didn't matter. She never seemed happier then she was sitting in her recliner with a cup of iced tea in hand watching the Pirates. It made her so happy. I'm sure she is looking down from above with a big smile on her face from last night.

Mat Latos's wife complaining about being hit by fans. She seems like the kinda women you take home to your mother..... if you were Mat Latos.

The usual idiots on the HBT comments sections taking shots at pittsburgh and of course since women are a minority (even though they're not) they're circling the wagons around her and believing 100% of what she wrote.

I doubt anyone in that section knew who she was, and based on her constant tweeting she most likely was no saint in all this.

I know exactly what you mean. My grandma used to go to the games and keep score herself. She passed away this spring before the season started. I really wish she could see this, but then again she probably is.

The Pens have the Jolly Roger flying in their locker room. I see nothing wrong with supporting all things Pittsburgh.

I'm not a Bucco fan, but as a Pens fan I just want to say this is awesome. To see PNC filled with that much enthusiam, to see Pens fans, mostly young, being so into shows me and everybody just how great a sportstown Pittsburgh is and has been.

The youth my age were never indifferent, this wasn't just Steelers or nothing, they just were dormant and depressed. I can't imagine being my age and growing up with no baseball team.

I am just so impressed at how much Pens fans have embraced the Pirates, which again shows me just how much Pittsburgh is not a Steelers town but a sports town with huge civic pride.

I thought that chanting Cue-to's name was awesome, to me that said there must be a lot of young Pens fans there carrying it over from hockey!

Go nuts.

While ordinarily the Empire frowns upon space pirates, Pirates Playoff Avatars are welcome in this benevolent dictatorship. It's October and you're in the game; have fun with it!

Also, feel free to make avatars that disparage the Chicago Cubs and all of their nimrod fans. And their stupid scoreboard and ivy. And their $9 Old Styles.

Congrats to all you long-suffering Pirate fans on moving forward to the NLCS. Saw some highlights from last night's air assault on the Reds. Pretty sweet.

Meantime **** St. Louis. They've won enough in recent years. They're kind of like the Dodgers and Yankees. Anytime they make the dance I root against them unless the other team is despicable.

Also, the Cubs blow.

I thought the same thing about my grandma last night. Used to go to 3 Rivers games with her before she got too feeble. But she saw game 7 in 1960 live, can't get much better than that.

It looked like Chris Kunitz (with long hair) was sitting behind home plate just to the right of the bald head guy partially blocked by the ump.

He was wearing blue with a hat.
Anybody catch that, I wonder how many Pens were at the game.

I saw some tears in the crowd last night as they panned around, mostly middle aged fans like me who remember the good times. I got a little emotional as soon as the Network cut to the game. After that I was just screaming at the TV.

Woah, so apparently Game 2 is not only at 1 PM on a Friday, but only on MLB Network? What a load of *********.
