Round 2 kicks off tonight - let's show these young Wheaties what's up!

Petryk returns tonight, which is fantastic news for our centre depth + lineup balance.

At game 1 tonight:

This citys support for this team is embarrassing. Maybe 3000 people here.

Why watch entertaining junior hockey when you can watch the worst team in pro sports for 42349x as much money???
Edit: Nice to see that the OK's are up 4-0

Sounds about right.

I've been to a Kelowna Rockets first round playoff game. Completely packed house. Calgary sells a good house for their games too. It's disgusting to see.

As long as there are enough people (suckers) to fill the Oiler seats, the owner and management have no incentive to really make the team better.

I genuinely believe they've intentionally handicapped the team with their marketing to kids. Fans in the city see it as a kids thing now and attendance suffers. It pisses me off to no end.

it boggles my mind. Edmonton is not a hockey city, it's an oilers city. I really thought that would change this year, but obviously not.

The oil kings could actually make the finals 3 years in a row, which is unheard of. The oilers could actually get their 4th 1st overall pick in the last 5 years, which is unheard of.

There was just shy of 6k people there, which is about average for a week night playoff game.

The Oiler/Oil King sales/marketing team is definitely one of the most incompetent organizations I have ever dealt with.

No. Youre way off. The upper bowl was full between the blue lines with a smattering on the ends. It just looks less full because of the stupid way the ticket office sells the seats. I bet if you were to try and buy a ticket in the lower bowl they would tell you there were none available. Yet both ends were pretty empty.

3k people would be much less than what you saw last night. Get rid of the entire upper bowl and what you had in the lower bowl would likely still be slightly more than three thousand.

Anyone what the food items are that everyone won last night? Is it worth a trip to Burger King today?

That was just my eye, I could be wrong, but either way it was sparse, the ends of the lower bowl were completely empty, and the remainder of the lower bowl only had people near the top at the middles. The upper bowl where I was sitting was decently full (only half was open) but was still only somewhat full in the middle. The announced attendance was just shy of 6000 but there is no chance there was 6000 people there.

Just a hair under 6000 actually. The lower bowl ends were sparse but the second deck on the player bench side made up for it. Still wish there was twice that number but that might be wishful thinking in round 2.

3rd-4th, pretty good pick by anyone getting him if he's still there after that.

There probably was. It was just dispersed in a goofy way, with the upper level on one side pretty much full between the blue lines, then nothing on the lower level ends. Really hilights their goofy ticket policies. Three years ago you could get the atb pass at the one end of the lower bowl. Last year and this year they moved that to the upper bowl. They dont sell many season tickets on the lower bowl ends as they reserve those areas for the huge groups of kids they promo in there during the season.

Anybody who wants to watch the game will be pissed off because whole sections of kids are left to run around/scream jump up and down in their seats while the supervisory parents are all off sitting in an entirely different section.

So they pretty much force anyone who wants to watch the actual games to buy more expensive side seats or better yet, club seats which they never put groups of kids in, but then again you are paying over a thousand bucks a ticket.

It's their dumb ass policies and sheer incompetence that turns some people who do make the effort to go to the games, off of the product.

Then there's the other fact that Edmonton supports the Oilers and the Eskimos and little else really. Its unfortunate but its just the way it is.

If they stopped pandering to little kids, and focused on the product on the ice, which is fantastic value, they would be much further ahead imo.

The 99 dollar playoff seat package is only available in the upper bowl, lower bowl seats are a little more money that is why the upper section has more people. The crowd for the first round was bigger but both games were on the weekend, a week night game is always a bit smaller. My season seats are near center ice 4th row by the penalty box and yes you will get groups of kids but is mostly on Sunday (family fun day) they get a lot of minor hockey teams
