I agree with the whole bad-marketing issue as to why attendance is low, but I also wonder if the Oil Kings have suffered from "Edmonton Rush syndrome". This is where there's initially some city-wide interest at the beginning of the franchise, but a bad start upon the team's arrival all but wipes that out, even in the later years when the team begins doing well.

Remember, when the Oil Kings franchise was announced, everyone was super excited. Fans were all hyped up about the historical aspect and the fact that we'd have some intense WHL hockey in Edmonton. The problem was that for the first three years or so, the Kings' hockey was anything but intense. They flat out stunk. By the time they actually began doing well, the damage had been done.

Weird being at a game where you expect your team to win.

Oil kings up 2 0 at end of 1st.

I'm digging club seats. Not so low next time though, sucks not being able to see through the bench.

Ya pretty dominating win. Brandon s goalie was great.

Score could have been much higher.

I still got the hockey sweat smell in my nose.

Way too close. I'll be shooting for row 10-15 next time.

Good game too. Some good back and forth, fast paced action. Great win.

2 questions:

How was Moroz?

How was the crowd, both in size and atmosphere?

Moroz was alright. Took two stupid penalties. Crowd was larger today and was quite rowdy at times, but still need to get more into the playoff spirit

Yup, should be gone in the late second early third.

It would be great if we could draft him. Big center with size that we can develop on the Oil Kings

Hopefully Mac T moves around the abundance of mid round picks for a second, or a couple of thirds.

I don't see him being a centre in pro, even right now he plays wing, you never know but if we were to do draft him expect a winger not a centre.

Big win for the Oil Kings. Absolutely schooled Brandon- series should be over in short order. A few thoughts:

Jarry looked super calm and poised. He was in impeccable position all game and made what tricky shots did come his way into routine-looking saves.

Eller was stellar on the forecheck all game. His aggressive board play enabled the OKs to generate several grade A chances.

Petryk plays a hard game- wouldn't mind tossing him a training camp invite ala Legault.

Papirny (Wheaties goalie) kept the game waaay closer than it was.

All in all an excellent game. Go Kings!

Eller is my super sleeper pick for the upcoming draft I really hop the Oilers take him, he has more untapped offence, and plays a pro game, excellent speed, very physical, and good size. I'd take him as high as round 4.

I believe the Oilers had Petryk at prospects camp/main camp. He may have gotten hurt just before or during I can't quite remember, either way I think he'll be back again next camp.

I think this version of the OKs may actually be better suited for the playoffs than last year. Yeah they don't have the offensive dominance of St. Croix and Wruck but they are bigger and more aggressive. Petryk, Pollock and Kieser have been staples on the forward lines and all of them bring good size.

Also at this point I would not be surprised if MacT trades up to draft Pollock.

Avs fan, coming in peace. Just gathering info for our GDT. Any idea who your goalie for tomorrow is going to be?

Anyway, my real reason for posting is just wondering if anyone can offer any insight on Cody Corbett? Avs just signed him to an ELC. Thanks!

Smart offensive D-man, but is competent in his own zone, good team guy, slightly undersized for pro, and skating needs work to succeed at the next level. Intelligence and work ethic are his keys to success IMO.

*Starting goalie should be Scrivens but that is yet to be confirmed.

The other issue last year was that Wruck was injured for nearly all of the playoffs.

I'm loving what's happening so far. Chance to go 8-0 in the postseason tonight and claim a second straight sweep. My only concern with this year is that I hope we don't get too softened up from playing Brandon and Prince Albert. Whoever comes out of the West is going to be a much more formidable foe than either of the two teams we've played so far, especially if that team is Portland.

Wruck was hurt during the 2011-12 playoffs, last year it was Reinhart that only played in 12 games, Trevor Cheek and TJ Foster only played 15 games. The team played 22 playoff games last year.

My bad.

Right now, we're currently trailing Brandon 2-1 in the first.
