"Matt Ellis brings settling influence to Rochester Amerks"

Nice article on what Ellis offers the Amerks from the D&C:

Matt Ellis brings settling influence to Rochester Amerks

Quote:
He is all about team and ensuring younger players understand what it takes to make it in the game.

"He made such a difference last year," Cassidy said. "He was just such a settling influence. He's been through the rigors of the American League as well as the National League and he knows what it takes."

Cassidy knew the dressing room was in good hands. Or good voice.

"There were times I said, 'I'm not coming in (to the room) but this is what we need to do,' and it would be taken care of," Cassidy said. "You know you can rely on that voice in the room to reinforce the message the coaches are trying to get across."

If our new young core finds success in future years, Ellis will have been a big part of it.
Great organizational forward

Also even if he retires in a couple years, he would be a great person for the Sabres to hire as director of player development.

I dunno.....I think he might make a quite effective coach.

He could turn into a solid coach down the road sort of like how Doug Houda's playing to coaching career transition went.

First position before coaching. Martin Gelinas did the same thing with Nashville and then this summer took an assistant job in Calgary.

Nevermind, I just looked up his NHL stats on NHL.com.
He's a bum and waste of a contract.

I'm surprised Lindy didn't put a waiver claim in on him

Hope he stays in the organization after he's done as a player. Great guy, great mentor.

Maybe Ruff's love for Ellis is exaggerated. Or maybe Ruff is trying to lure Hecht from the Mannheim Eagles.

Maybe its Darcy's love for Ellis; not Ruff's.

Or maybe Darcy saw Ruff's love and, like a little brother, mirrored and then amplified that attention.
