Based on this game, Belov should be in the starting lineup.

I'm sure it hurt like a ***** but Gagner will be fine.

It was only a few teeth. At the very worst he'll play with a faceshield for a bit.

Give it about 15 minutes.

For a game played with heart and passion, I've never seen so many trolls in one place that bash any sort of emotion at all.

That was tame for Yak. The more goals he scores, the more he'll piss off opponents. Fine by me!

Yakupov really needs to get some preseason time with his eventual line mates. He's dangerous now, but can be so much better.

Belov's play also was really impressive given the circumstances, not out of place at all.

I seriously doubt it's anything more than a few lost chiklets. No point in going back for the third of an exhibition game.

I don't quite understand Ryan Hamilton. He picks up points, seemingly through just being there. He skates like he has cement skates. He's not nearly as physical as I'd like him to be.

Ryan Jones... stock is falling so quickly. 1 bad penalty, another because he momentarily blacked out on the PP coming back for his defenseman. He has to look alot better, be alot greasier and finish checks. He bailed too much.

Smyth had a horrendous attempt at a clear on the PK that was all but a sure thing. Otherwise, I thought he played an alright game. I don't see it with Hall and Hemmer, but he's the stop gap on that line.

I don't see it with Acton. I don't think anyone's grabbed that 4th line center spot and I'm looking to the waiver wire to fill it. Even moving Pitlick to center crossed my mind.

Oh, and David Perron is lovely. I can't count how many times I'm yelling at our forwards to grab someone and just hold them off the pileup, or help in our own crease during a scrum. Just hug an opposing skater, act like your a team.

Perron can play for my team anyday. Minus the quintessential giveaways.

Great

Yak
Nurse (drool)

Very Good

Perron
Hemsky (looked like awesome Old Hemsky)
Belov
Gagner (pre injury)
Hunt (I can't understate how impressed I've been)

Good

Petry
Fedun
Rimmer (rebound control a bit suspect but positioning and athleticism sound. Congrats kid you're a pro hockey player)
Smyth (yep)
Hall (though his hands took the night off)
Hamilton
Eberle
Hunt
Khaira
Brown

Meh
Grebeshkov (couple nice passes but my god this guy needs a map in the D zone)
LaBarbera - just okay
Acton - he will be a reasonably okay 4C I guess...sigh

Bad, please go away

Jones. Noticeably the worst player on the ice.

Edit - forgot Hemsky.

Belov was really impressive. It was a relief to see him perform well even if it was against the Canucks C squad. I'm curious to see how he does against full NHL rosters later in preseason.

I can't believe how well Nurse is playing, I can't think of any glaring mistakes that he has made in the last 2 games outside of being caught flat footed that one play and committing the interference penalty. That's pretty unbelievable for a raw, 18 year old defenseman and it seems that Eakins is recognizing this by playing the hell out of him in every situation. He should get sent down after a few more preseason games but if he keeps progressing like this, it won't be long before he's in the NHL full time.

Yak was unbelievable tonight, not much more to say than that. He's poised to have a big sophomore campaign.
Perron is going to be big for us as well. You can say how well versed he is in 3 zone play, just plays like a player who was well coached similar to Gordon and Ference.
I really like Khaira as well, great pass to Yak on the goal and really strong on the puck.
There is no way that Jones should be a lock for this roster, he has been brutal the last few games and other bottom 6 guys are playing better. Hamilton and Brown are 2 bubble guys who have outplayed him IMO.
Really liked Rimmer also. I liked him in the Golden Bears game too, hopefully he gets more looks this preseason.

Fedun needs to work on his cliche game. Way too many candid answers right now.

Wish I could have seen the whole game. Only got to watch the 3rd period and the Oilers pretty dominated it.

Not sure what the brutal penalty against Weise was though - totally stupid.

Hunt is such an interesting guy. Not afraid to shoot, and seems confident with the puck, but his passes seemed to have a little too much on them several times.

Nurse looks like a veteran out there aside from one little brainfart later in the 3rd.

Again, only watched the 3rd. I am sure there is lots I missed.

Am I the only one who thinks Yakupov had a supbar game?

He had more than 8 mins of PP time and generally lacked creativity out there on the PP. I don't think he should be working the point yet, but rather work the halfwall where Nuge usually sets up. That's his most dominant area of the ice. Obviously he has the talents, but I think he can be more unpredictable.
