Bottom line Nashville needs a true offensive weapon. Kessel if he does not want to re-sign in Toronto would be a great addition. He is only 25 and he has scored at least goals in four seasons and last year he had 20 in the 48 game season. He would add depth to RW, which needs lots of help in Nashville. Again this only works if he does not want to stay in Toronto.

Toronto would get one of Nashvilles top three prospects in Watson(top Center prospect), two decent top nine players in Smith and Spaling, a young offensive defensemen in Ellis and a first round draft pick.

To Nashville: Kessel,Rights to Franson

To Toronto: Austin Watson, Craig Smith, Nick Spaling, Ryan Ellis, 2014 1st

This would make Nashville have a really good top two lines.

Forsberg-Wilson-Kessel
Stalberg-Fisher-Hornqvist

Not even remotely close. First off, what makes you think Kessel will sign here if he won't sign in TOR, and second, they won't do that. Lots of quantity doesn't get you Kessel, much less them adding Franson.

I think the Leafs would rather take their chances in driving a bus full of money up to Kessel's house and see how that goes.

The team is trying to continue moving forward. Giving up their top offensive player for picks and a few prospects doesn't seem like it will make sense right now.

Better to take their chances in signing him after the season's over.

You sure we don't want to ask them to throw in Phaneuf while we're at it? I mean, come on...

Agree, and Preds fans should know better.
Leafs easily counter with 3rd line pieces for Weber.

If Franson is removed, that package is better than what Hossa and Kovalchuk returned.

Nope. Don't see nsh and tor as good trading partners (for Kessel at least). And I really don't see a reason why Kessel would want to re-sign in Nashville.

Based on Hockey's Future website, the offer is MORE than fair from Nashville. As a Leafs fan I respectfully decline for none other than the fact the Leafs are competing for a solid playoff spot this year and getting 2 young great prospects won't help.

You want Kessel and Franson? Cool. I want Forsberg, Josi, and a 1st.

Nashville fans won't like it, but that is probably close to the asking price.

They both returned much less than that (and Hossa had Dupuis with him). Watson+Ellis+1st is very solid. Leafs fans are setting themselves up for a rude awakening

Yeah. I mean, I get that the Leafs aren't moving Kessel now and will probably retain him, but Watson, Smith, Spaling, Ellis and a 1st destroys the return of comparable moves. They won't do better than that IF they decide to move him.

That's fine, but it's largely a package the Leafs don't need. They would have absolutely no interest in Smith, Spaling and Ellis. The 1st is nice and would likely contribute to adding a high end forward prospect, something they'll need if Kessel is traded. Watson isn't exactly a blue chipper, so Nonis would surely be looking elsewhere to a land a return which fills some organizational needs.

hate to be this guy but the only realistic thing from Nashville id want would be Seth Jones...and there's a case to be made for the value there. Straight up.

Weber or Jones. I know its steep and obviously we would have to add but there is no other reason for Toronto to do this

If Poile wants Kessel he should have ponied up the dough necessary to acquire him from Boston in the first place. I highly doubt Toronto has interest in trading him.

Also Nashville has no use for Franson, considering his cost. Pass

That is true only in the bizzaro world where player's contracts are irrelevant.

A signed Kessel is certainly worth a prospect at that level. An impending UFA, probably closer to the OP.

Nashville can keep its garbage.

How about Seth Jones, Filip Forsberg, and a 1st?
