Craig Anderson

Who needs a goalie?

The Lehner must be released; he is too good to keep caged up.

What can Ottawa get for Anderson?

trade next year. Its Lehner first year as a backup, lets treat him with kid gloves til he proves anything at an NHL level.

25 NHL games, .925 save%. Calder Cup champion and AHL playoffs MVP.

He's good to go. He has enough pro games under his belt. Maybe the other team can toss in an experienced backup in the trade and we're golden.

What's his contract details? Honestly the guy that was running away with the Vezina before injury last year doesn't seem like a guy you want to trade...

Well, it's that in two years, Anderson is UFA, while we control Lehner for a while. Some want to get something good for Anderson right now believing that Lehner is ready. I think it's a valid line of thinking. In the next two years, Andy's cap will be about 3m.

I rather keep Anderson because in Ottawa, good goalies are HARD to come by.

It's like Ottawa fans have collective amnesia and don't recall how rare it was for Ottawa to have 1 let alone 2 good goalies.

The team that would be realistically interested would be the Islanders you would think. They have Nabokov and their management is a mystery sometimes but it would make sense for them.

Or a little off the board, flip him to Tampa for Bishop back and a mid round pick?

Two more years at around 3.25.

He's around the same age as Miller/Lundqvist.

I think the Sens are good enough to win a cup, you dont trade your Vezina goalie in the middle of that window to start developing another one.

The Sens are in though because with their budget, so asset management is even more important, so different possibilities should be considered, but I prefer to keep Anderson right now.

Lehner is great, but he is not a starter yet. He hasn't proven yet that he can keep up those numbers on a consistent basis. The last thing we need is to trade anderson and then have lehner start stinking because he was not ready yet.

Yeah, no way we're trading Anderson right now. Next year? Maybe. This year, no thanks.

I hope the Sens trade Andy soon. Then we'll see how overrated Lehner actually is.

By any chance would you be the apocolypse mist dude?

Lehner has done everything he's been asked for. And it was cool watching him grow right under our eyes from the OHL to the AHL and now in the NHL.

Anderson's decisions with the puck is great, and I wish Lehner had that.

If all we're targeting is a draft pick(1st rounder), Murray would be a fool to move him during the season.

Why trade Anderson in October for a 1st rounder and go through the season with a very young/risky Lehner/Lawton tandem, when we can probably get that same 1st rounder in the offseason (in the weeks leading up to the draft) and have Andy/Lehner as our goalies for the whole year?

What has Lehner ever done to be classified as 'overrated'? AHL playoff MVP, .935 save % last year in the NHL. He's ultra competitive, he's athletic, he's huge and he's a cool guy.

I'm gonna guess that you have no idea what you're talking about?

Two words: Leafs fan.

He obviously does not watch Lehner because he is most definitely not overrated.

In fact, if Lehner is overrated, then so is Reimer and Bernier

You don't really need 2 though, a team only has 1 net

Yeah maybe Nabkov + 1st rounder in 2014. That would be very hard to turn down

well how can he if he's not given a chance to play.

Not only are Sens fans advocating to keep Anderson, they want to sit Lehner to start the year.

Because I personally don't like Philly's or NYI's chances that much. I wouldn't trade Andy to Pittsburgh for a 1st. But to those 2, probably. Philly and NYI could easily miss the playoff. Specifically Philly, I don't think a goalie fixes them. They make goalies look bad.

If you wait til the deadline, you only get a late 1st (if that). Right now, you can get what will be a mid 1st imo. It also saves Melnyk some $ as he is reportedly upset with being over budget.

Sens fans: you want to trade Anderson next year. Well, what if Anderson starts this year and Lehner only plays 25 games? Will you be comfortable making that trade? Or will you view Lehner, still, as unproven?

Also, I was hoping to get a top 4 D or top 6 forward, not necessarily a pick.
