You realize that Mackenzie leaked that we were looking for a face puncher almost a week ago, right?

MacT and his former Oilers. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to trade back for Horcoff given Edmonton's current centre situation.

The need was mentioned awhile back already. Anyways, I don't get this move. Useless IMO.

Not the presser I saw. He mentioned TOR games and the fact that he has been looking for toughness for 4 months.

First Question.

Eakins doesn't seem like the type to dress a goon just to goon

Agree.. Eakins has mentioned over and over again that he wants players who can play and does not believe in specialized tough guys.
Having said that he will have little choice but to play SMac vs the Nucks on Oct 05. Pressure from mangement\fans.

I dont see Mac being an Oiler for a lot longer than that.

Now he's going to have three options. Neither Brown, Eager or Macintyre can play more than 10 minutes a game without being complete liabilities on the ice, so Eakins would be stupid to dress any of them to actually play.

Doubt the 3 will be dressed at the same time since none of them play C and all 3 are 4th liners.

Brown and Eager are much better 5on5 than MacIntyre and are hardly a liability.

He was just hoping no one would post the actual presser because that would make him look like a fool

Either way this is a pointless move, Mac is pretty much going to be sitting in the press box (Brown and Eager are easily better options) except for that Oct 5 game and Kassian will mouse out anyways so it's pretty much pointless signing.

Similar to Cooke's return to Ottawa after the EK incident.. nothing will happen.

The refs won't let it get out of hand and will immediately kick out any player that does even the slightest thing. SM is there to send a message. It's clearly saying don't F with us anymore because we aren;t going to take your shet.

Maybe he can find one while he's sitting in the pressbox.

why would any enforcer be scared of a 33 years old enforcer. he's not even 270 lbs now , probably around 240 at 6'5 . i would wreck this lanky granpa

You laugh at MacT but you forget that we can dress Eager, Brown, SMac..

Look at what happened to Clutterbuck when Hall finally had enough with him.

It is going to be a long season, lets see how healthy Hank can stay this year....
Playing prospects and grinders competing for a job in a PRE Season game is dressing a hit squad?

Or is dressing all your top 6 stars more unusual for a 3rd pre season game? Hall perron eberle, Hemsky, Yak, Gagner....against a team of prospects and grinders.

We played the sharks before and their line up looked much the same as ours.

Yea your right clutterbuck felt the fear of god in him after that dirty hall knee.

I hope hank can stay healthy, he has not missed a game in many years.

You sound like you are 12 years old.

33 isn't that old for an enforcer and even if he's lost a bit of weight he'd still be lethal in a fight.

Why even bring Luongo into this . I am an Oiler fan and if not for the length of Luongo,s contract i would take Luongo . DD is underrated on HF , but also he has only prove he can win games when there no pressure on him . Until we are playing games with pressure we do not have a leg to stand on , in comparing DD to Lu .
Back to the thread . The Canucks like to take dirty runs at kids , 18 , 19 and 20 year olds . If i was the coach I would send out a goon to break one of the sisters in half , Then you will see the Canucks become drives again just like against Boston . There is a reason the Rest of canada hate the Canucks ,this is coming from a fan who like the Canucks up until about 5 years ago . They were my second favourite team , now i would cheer for any country team over them . I hate dirty hockey players , but we have to fight fire with fire

So... we aren't carrying 8 D anymore? Because I can't see us waiving Brown to keep MacIntyre. Heck maybe Eakins refuses to play Mac. I could see that happening.

Otherwise we'll likely be seeing both Potter and one of Grebeshkov/Larsen being waived to OKC.

I just don't see the point of Mac unless we're claiming him purely to play against the Canucks next game to jump one of the Sedins even if it means taking the suspension.

I doubt he refuses to play Mac. Eakins gave Orr his second chance in the AHL and allowed him a lot freedom to regain his game. He almost took it as a personal challenge to get Orr back into game shape.
