Watching Mason so far has been real treat, I always liked the guy back from when he got his start with Columbus. I'm really rooting for him to turn it around here not just because he's a flyer but because he seems like a good guy.

actually, most people said we made a mistake in trading Bob & that he turned into an elite goalie ..... even behind the team in front of him.

now, Mason is outperforming him, behind what was THE WORST team in the NHL at the start of the year,

[neither of which have anything to do with the fact that Homer would only sing Bob's praises after unloading him - if Homer felt he was THAT great, he'd be on Orange & Black still]

The Islanders are crazy desperate for a goalie. I wonder if we could get anything for Emery. And do they have anyone we'd want?

The Flyers goaltending has been very impressive this season so far... but Mason has to be the no. 1 right now.

If were out of playoff contention by the deadline I would look to move but right now I'm holding onto him. I don't want any parts of Heeter or Danis playing in a Flyers uniform (even if it's a limited backup role) unless we are completely out of it.

Could mason play his way onto Canada's roster?

If he has 5 shutouts between now and mid-January, maybe. That's a tall order you're suggesting.

Why? Outside of Price who's a lock for Canada's roster? Crawford, Fleury, Luongo? Mike smith? Josh Harding is having a great year. All those guys play for great teams and mason is outperforming everyone save harding and price.

Price should be the starter, Luongo & Smith as the backups.

Luongo as the veteran who's been there before & Smith who played for Canada this summer in the WC's & did well.

That's what what my guesses would be for their goaltending situation.

Price
Luongo
Crawford
Fleury
Smith

all ahead of Mason for sure. Again, that's not a knock on Mason who has been great this season.

The only thing the post-hexy goalie debacle taught me was that curses suck.

We could afford to be patient and look for a competent backup. I was thinking you should always be willing to improve your team capitalizing on desperation, with nyi out of patience and willing to overpay for someone who might be their answer. But on second thought, it's probably best not to screw with the fates after what we've been through.

Flyers wouldn't get much back for Emery and considering the hole it would make in the roster it wouldn't be a smart idea.

Flyers would be Buffaloish without Mason's play. He is winning games almost on his own. As a Canadian, Price should start, Luongo as a vet backup makes sense, but I would like to see Mason given a shot as 3rd. If not Mason, Bernier. Fleury can stay far, far away.

Weird. Didn't you fervently argue that having a great backup is bad, because it puts too much pressure on the starter?
