Avalanche Player Rankings #4

Ok, so this is the next one of a poll where we're determining whom the best players are on the Avalanche... I'm running them ~3 days or however long it takes to get a clear winner.

Not who has the most potential, not who is the most valuable or is the most irreplaceable... "Who is the 2nd best Avalanche player on the team?"

This is not a poll where potential is taken into account. So voting MacKinnon means you think he is actually the 2nd best player on this team ignoring any improvement he will make over the summer which we cannot account for since it would simply be guessing and defeat the purpose of this poll.

1. Matt Duchene (67%)
2. Semyon Varlamov (73%)
3. Erik Johnson (47%)

Remember to mention who you want added next.

Wow, lots of quick votes for Landy. Aside from the first vote, this is what I've expected so far (Varly --> Duchy --> EJ --> Landy).

Landy for me, I voted him the last poll. He does everything. Goals, assists, hits, shoots, defense. He's one of our best players hands down.

add Mitchell

Landy for me. Next will probably be O'Reilly then Stastny then one of Hejda/Barrie for my voting anyways.

Again, I voted Stastny. Perhaps a little underrated here....looking at the poll results so far.

O'Reilly because of the how well rounded his game is.

Led the team in goals, strong contributor to the power play and penalty kill, flexibility to play either center or winger, puts in the work on and off the ice, and in my opinion a great team leader.

I voted Stastny, again.

Does it at both ends of the ice, much more so than any other player (especially considering he's a C, ROR is a W). Proved he can do it in the playoffs, too.

This.

Plus being one of the league leaders in takeaways, strong on the PK and only 2 PIMs.

Add #40.

I don't know why you're still going on with this. You pick your best available player on the poll each time. If you've noticed, Bonzai has selected MacK each time, as he's convinced MacK is the 2nd best. That's fine, he has the right to even bring that up next season if MacK turns it on and reaches/surpasses Duchy's status.

Looks like Tangs is the consensus for next poll, any objections? I'll start it tomorrow prolly, feel free to start discussing #5. It's Staz for me, but ROR seems to be the favorite atm.

I voted ROR, but the next 3 guys (Stastny, Landeskog) are almost interchangeable to me.

I would suggest adding John Mitchell or Jamie McGinn next.

Voted ROR over Landy because Landy took some bad penalties and we all know how ROR did penalty wise. Plus ROR was played in literally all situations and led forwards in ice time as well as being our leading goal scorer. ROR was better than Staz and Landy but its close.

RoR is better than Skog today but Skog has had less time in the league. He will get better proabably

Voted RoR, add Tangz

I'm quite confident when I say Landeskog had a better season than ROR outside of the playoffs where he was injured. He had the better peak performances and was better defensively than ROR (as was Stastny in that regard).

Yep... people seem to have unrealistic expectations of Landeskog. He was probably the Avs most consistent player, and arguably the Avs most productive offensive player even strength (between him and Duchene). IMO Landy is better than ROR and there is a decent sized gap.

Don't know why people are saying add Tanguay. He played 16 games, there is no way he should even be in this at all.
