Sam Cosentino; who is one of the best junior hockey analysts you can find, was saying that some teams are considering Brendan as a 1st round talent.

FYI

Ehlers Dad was drafted by the NYR in 84 as the first Dane ever. He never played but was invited over, which he declined.

Not an NHL'er but still fun.

Any thoughts on the new list from TSN?

My thought is that we should package our first and a player for an upgrade on D

Technically there is no "wrong" list when involving prospects, but Mr. Button always has some of the wackiest things (even though I have a lot of respect for him).

- Draisaitl should not be that low.
- Brendan Perlini should not be that high.
- Jakub Vrana definitely will not be at #35.
- Roland McKeown is much better than #32.
- I understand why he has Jake Virtanen at #47, but no doubt he will not drop that low.

McKenzies mid-season rankings:

1. Ekblad
2. Reinhart
3. Bennett
4. Dal Colle
5. Draisaitl
6. Fleury
7. Ritchie
8. Perlini
9. Kapanen
10. Virtanen
11. Nylander
12. McCann
13. Barbashev
14. Pastrnak
15. Ehlers
16. Milano
17. McKeown
18. Honka
19. Tuch
20. Larkin
21. Scherbak
22. Goldobin
23. Vrana
24. Fiala
25. Schmaltz
26. DeAngelo
27. Kempe
28. Bleackley
29. Ho-Sang
30. Fabbri

Wonder if Buffalo will become an inverted Edmonton by just drafting defenders in the first round if they have the #1 pick.

Nylander was in the top 3 conversation earlier this year and now he's out of the top 10?

Based on what I have read, Bleackley seems like a Pracey kind of player.

^ He is Freudian, but so is 5'10/165lbs Ontario native, Robert Fabbri.

I know McKenzie's list reflects scouts opinions, but this is one I absolutely disagree with the most compared to his prior years.

- Ekblad: Even Hench is seeing he should not be a #1 prospect
- Draisaitl: Over Bennett
- Kapanen: Wouldn't draft him in the top 10
- Virtanen: In the top 10 is pretty damn funny
- Pastrnak: Vrana is the better of the two
- Tuch: IMO he's getting overrated (screams McCarron 2.0, who I am not a fan of)
- Scherbak: Stupid scouts, lolz. Wasn't even a top 2 round prospect a week ago. Plays in one prospect game and boom a top 25 prospect. Solid player though, really like him.
- Goldobin: Him at #22 is beyond hilarious.
- Kempe: At 27th is pretty damn funny too, way better than that.

My opinion changes a lot on who I wants the Avs to draft, but I would freakin' love to get Kevin Fiala if he is at our pick.

Assuming we pick around 20, have you guys narrowed down who we should be looking at? Big winger over D?

In Roy's PC today he said after taking MacKinnon in the first they wanted a defender in the second. Confirmation that the phrase BPA takes positional needs into account here.

I think the Siemens pick confirmed that.

Yeah conventional wisdom is that you take BPA first round regardless of positional need, then you look more at positional need for later round picks.

I went back to our 2011 draft thread right when Sherman made the Landeskog pick.

Haha, the freak out is hilarious.

A lot of Larsson and Huberdeau love. Avsboy even tried to say he'd prefer Strome over Landy

I've had fun reading back some old threads too. So many posts I'd love to quote but hindsight and all that. I got the sense there was more excitement over Landy than there was Duchene. Maybe not that thread but some of the pre draft stuff was hype central.

Not going to lie. Back with the 2011 draft I was pulling for Huberdeau.

I was adamant that we should take Larsson.
Was convinced that he could be a Norris caliber defender.

I still think that he had a chance to be one.
The Devils did their best to screw up his development, though.

And I was where many on here are right now.
Get (Pick) the freaking D .

I learned from that . I am just fine with our D for now.

One of the rare misses I completely misjudged a player (so far).

I really would like McKeown or maybe Ehlers if we pick 17-20.

If we can draft McKeown I'd be ecstatic. He's everything Roy would love to have in a defender. Just needs the Roy/Foote treatment and he'd fit right in.
