Are you suggesting that the GM doesn't have a voice in determining the opening day roster?

Dubnyk was good yet again but of course, his detractors will ***** and moan about the one soft goal.
He was clumsy and unfocused all night. Made maybe two or three saves that were beyond routine. Congrats ... I guess.

Why? He is clearly better than anyone not in our Top 4, even fatigued and out of his element. He might even push into the Top 4.

I don't see any way that Belov goes to OKC. He's an NHL player for sure.

and ya...I think I'd rather keep Pitlick and extra D than have Arco or Acton....put Smyth or Pitlick or whoever at C...put Larsen at C even....just not the scrubs....please.

I'd LOVE to be wrong, but I see:

J.Schultz-Ference
Smid-Petry
N.Schultz-Grebeshkov
Belov

With Belov getting sent down when the team struggles a bit and Potter gets healthy.

Now I don't WANT that at all, but this would be what we see every year from this team.

Up front there is no way a guy like Jones gets cut, even though he probably should. Pitlick could get a hat trick tomorrow and still get cut.

Not in this life time son.

The first period was off but after that he shut it down became the Big Easy and played like a stud

If he is, fantastic.

But I won't be a part of the lynch-mob if he's riding the bus on October 1st.

He's played two preseason games.

One against the Canucks' goon squad and the other basically an AHL game.

I highly doubt Belov gets sent down with how good he has played. Potter is likely on the way out, maybe N.Schultz too and then Grebs is still a question mark.

How is Acton on faceoffs?

Lander played well defensively but he generates nothing, ever, offensively.

I'm wondering how long the list of players is that played significant time in the AHL, didn't do anything at all, then became a good NHL player. I don't think it'd be very long.

Because Pitlick is starting to make me believe.

MacT and the scouts really nailed the Joensuu and Belov signings. Not going to lie, I was a tad cynical about whether they'd be able to translate to the NHL, but they've done nothing but impress so far. If they get sent down in favor of the likes of Ryan "play killer" Jones, and Denis "blow coverage" Garbagekov, I'm going to be livid.

Acton did have his best game. He's still not a nhl player.

I might be in the minority but i have Arco as the leader for the 4th line job. I'm still not comfortable with it, and would rather go out and get another center, but he's our best bet.

I'm going to be pissed it Belov gets sent down. He looks as advertised. Also, JOENSUU!!!! I hope this guy can keep it up because he's been an absolute stud for us so far in the preseason.

Goodbye Omark.

the guy still has to learn how to handle and shoot the puck. He makes the right decisions, hockey IQ looks good, he has fitness, good skating, physical, etc... he has a lot of the things that make up good hockey players, but like MacT complained about our bottom 6 last year: he is not a threat to score, the best you can hope is he doesn't hurt you. I have no idea why he has had such a hard time translating offence to pro, but it looks like he's playing with broken thumbs.

Which is why he is so intriguing. It's not very often that a player will learn how to play better at the NHL level if he's already struggling at the AHL level - I asked for a list because there may not actually be any cases like that. But so far he looks better at this level than he ever did in the A.

I dont really care if the 4th line scores so long as it plays some sort of defense and can keep the puck in the offensive zone most of the time and then bang before the line change.

Couple things I'll add which have pretty much been said all night.

-Jesse Joensuu is a ******* beast. There is no way that this guy should be cut.
-Anton Belov looked absolutely fantastic. I'll be pissed if he isn't on the team come Oct. 1st
-Philip Larsen looked great, best game he's had so far. Definitely a solid option going forward.
-Nick Schultz should be moved for center depth.
-Tyler Pitlick played the best game I have ever seen from him. Keep that up and he'll be on the team in a year or two. I'd like to see him continue to play that game and develop in OKC.
-Mike Brown played a great game besides his one mistake. Guy has looked great all pre-season.
-Boyd Gordon looked solid like every game he's played.
-Andrew Ference was calm, cool, and collected at all times.
-Good game by Dubs, has looked good all pre-season.
-Jones, Lander, Arcobello, and Omark did nothing for me tonight.

If Joensuu, and Belov aren't on this team when the season starts, something is wrong. Again, Nick Schultz should be moved out and I'd be cool with Larsen in his spot. Grebs and potter should be moved/sent down.

N. Shultz just doesn't seem to have the skating or puck ability that I want out of our defenseman.
Please trade him in a package for some help.

I'd love to ship out N.Schultz and a late pick for a serviceable centerman, not sure who would go for it though

I see alot of people saying this. But if we trade him and Potter is out for any significant time we are left with no d depth yet again. When we finally have depth we can't just go ahead and trade it away. Also Grebs, Larsen, and Belov are all RD so we can't carry all three on the roster.
