Training camp discussion 2013-2014 (full lineup post #28)

With training camp opening on Thursday, I feel like we should have a thread to talk about developments. I'll be heading up to Traverse City tomorrow afternoon and I'll make some posts about my observations.

Usually the lines for the scrimmages are how the season will eventually start, so that will be fun.

Pretty much there. All contracted players + some try-outs.

Brunnstrom sort of, I think is the last I remember.

Last one to really stick in a big way was Cleary.

Training camp lines as of today. For the love of god people try to stay rational during the preseason.

Datsyuk - Z - Abdelkader
Franzen - Weiss - Alfredsson
Nyquist - Andersson - Bertuzzi
Miller - Emmerton - Eaves

Kronwall - Ericsson
DeKeyser - Kindl
Smith - Quincey

Looks like Tatar and Samuelsson aren't on set lines yet. (I'll see if we can add a 'Tatar' category).

The Wheel Deal ‏@Bill_Roose 2m
Teams and lines are set for start of #RedWings training camp tomorrow. Main lines are 40-13-8; 93-90-11; 14-18-44; and 20-25-17.

Chuck Pleiness ‏@wingsfrontman 4m
Wings D pairings. E and Kronwall. DeKeyser and Kindl. Quincey and Smith.

Yeah, I don't like the lines to start off, but we'll see where we're at in November. Will be interesting to see when/how Tatar and Samuelsson rotate in.

****in' pathetic.

Let's go out and change in Brunner for Alfie and Flip for Weiss -- and then run the same botched ****ing lines.

I'd almost expect them, in a rational world, to rotate into Bertuzzi's spot.

Despite carrying 16 forwards, I'm not sure there's a viable way to make four lines that everyone will like. I'm not a fan of these particular lines, either, but I doubt they are etched in stone.

Yeah, I think that is the spot most up for grabs.

I really hope Babcock gives Tatar a fair shot at becoming an impact player, because I get the feeling that he won't.

No Tatar? What a joke. Just trade him so he can go score 30 goals somewhere else.

Relax. It's September 11th, not April. No guarantees Tatar plays in the top 6 this season but Holland still needs to shed some players, Tatar won't be one of them.

For the record, I have no problem with Bert playing as long as he's healthy and working out there. But I'd prefer he play with Dats and Z and have Gator on the 4th. Rotate if needed.

Nyquist-Andersson-Tatar NEEDS to be the third line until and or IF Helm comes back.

I honestly think the lines will be a fair bit different at the end of camp, then they are at the beginning. I cannot imagine how Tatar doesn't get a regular spot and bertuzzi/samuelsson/eaves rotate on a fourth line spot.

Of course, I don't think people need to overreact right now. The lines will change a dozen times through the season.

Yeah, I can't see Tatar not breaking into the starting lineup before the end of camp.

What if they want to work Nyquist and Tatar into the top6? Does that still need to be the third line instead of giving them bigger roles on other lines?
