Cut him or keep him? Jarred Tinordi.

Question is simple. Would you cut Tinordi or not?

Where would you play him?

They don't really have a choice but to keep him with Drewiske and Emelin out...plus Murray possibly missing the start of the season. I think they'll give him a month until Drewiske returns to prove he is NHL ready.

Defensive depth is a must have in this league. With Subban, Markov, Gorges, Diaz, Murray, Bouillon and Drewiske already there (and Emelin back sometime later this season) I think Jarred will be back in Hamilton when everyone (sans Emelin) is back and healthy. While I'd rather see Tinordi on the roster than Bouillon, Drewiske and maybe even Murray I'd rather have all three/four available if need be (does anyone remember two years ago when our blueline consisted of Subban, Gorges and four guys from Hamilton? I do). There's nothing to say that Jarred can't (a) benefit from top line minutes in Hamilton and (b) still be the first player inserted into the lineup in case of injury.

I dont think Tinordi will ever go back to the AHL. Drewiskie and Emelin are far from a return, meanwhile Tinordi will strengthen his position in the top 6 (probably top 4) and there's always going to be injuries. Dont think we will ever have a full lineup.

Even if everyone is healthy, you keep him and trade Diaz or Gorges in order to get something of value.

Markov - Emelin
Tinordi - Subban
Murray - Gorges/Diaz
Bouillon - Drewiske

Tinordi is not ready for that much responsibility/ice time. Trading Diaz or Gorges would put him in a spot to fail(see Price at 20).

Expecting him to come in and replace the tough minutes Gorges plays is a bad idea. Plus Diaz helps our transition game and PP a lot, replacing him with Tinordi is puttinga square peg in a round hole. People already complain when Gorges or Bouillon play the PP, well if you move Diaz both end up on the #2 PP...again bad idea.

Keep him waive Murray if necessary. (Drewiski being injured.)

You keep him. Trade Bouillon or Murray if you have to make space for the kid. Management saw his play last year, signing both Bouillon and Murray was not necessary

You think they'll trade a guy that they signed in the off season to be a physical force? Come on, Murray's not going anywhere, unless it's at the deadline and the Habs aren't in the playoffs.

Tinordi stays, Bouillon and Drewiske are the odd men out. Unfortunately he'll likely have to play on the right side.

For your defense pairings you'll likely see:

Gorges - Subban
Markov - Tinordi
Murray - Diaz

If he goes back down to the Bulldogs, there's something seriouosly wrong...Tinner is NHL ready, pair him with Markov on the 2nd pair (not a fan of playing him on the right side, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do) or Diaz on the 3rd pair...for now...hope is he keeps up his growth and he & Subbie make a killer 1st pairing by next season, two years max.

Keep him, don't be too trigger happy when he makes mistakes (benching him next game), let him continue his development in the NHL this year and profit the years after. He's going to be good, if he ain't already.

Keep him. If there's a logjam when everyone's healthy and you have to make a move, waive Drewiske.

Keep him.

I don't know why we went out and re-signed Bouillon when it was obvious Tinordi was already better.

Cut him.

He's pretty good and pretty close, but he's not there yet.

He's still young and learning. He's getting more nervous as the camp went on. He still makes bold mistakes in his own territory, and sometimes has bad positioning.

It is not dramatic at all since he coulod also make pretty nice plays in the same game as he makes mistakes, but I think at his age and experience level, he if makes mistakes at the NHL level, it would affect his confidence too much.

I say 2-3 months in the AHL, then re-evaluate.

I'm pretty sure they resigned Bouillon before Tinordi had those couple games where he started looking good The trade + resigning Dreweski is mega mind-boggling though, he brings a big bunch of nothing to that D squad.

Keep him.

Marc Bergevin's assessment on the Habs as a team going forward towards the playoffs is "Good, but we still have a ways to go." If that's the case and you plan on strengthening your team so that in 2-3 years you're a Cup contender, you have to start giving your prospects a chance to shine. Let Tinordi stay, let him play, makes mistakes and learn from them. If the Habs are not winning the Cup this year, there is no harm in letting him develop. If a player never makes mistakes, he never learns from them and matures as both a player and a man. Then, in 2-3 years from now, Tinordi will be that much better and wiser. It doesn't hurt the team at all.

No you don't trade Gorges just because you have too many D. This D corps badly need a guy like Gorges in it. And Diaz is a good insurance in case of injuries. If you can get something of value, maybe, but you won't if you're the GM shopping him away.
