Well if his name was DONOVAN and not DEVON I could see that connection

A kicker that seemed to miss a lot of FG, really?

It was a joke on the similarity of the names. Notice the emoticon.

I can't support the players in their demands.
The league has barely survived, and did so due to the owners taking a bath for years.
even now, teams don't make much of a profit if any.

so now that things are looking up, the players are getting greedy.
I'd love to see the owners actually make some money for a change and not have to give all their profits to the players.
raising the cap $100,000 a year seems fair to me.

I know the players often don't make much for what they put their bodies through and it would be nice if they made more but this isn't the NFL we're talking about.
There is a never ending supply of CFL quality players that can be hired. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they decide to strike.

Both sides seem to fully realize this. The players deserve better than they've been getting but without putting their franchises in jeopardy. I'd be shocked if anything more than a day or two of training camp is lost.

I do support the players. They put their bodies on the line for poor salaries. They deserve more. I'd pay a higher ticket price if it want to the players. The league's TV contract is higher and the players should share in that windfall.

I could see the point if the CFL made huge profits but it doesn't and the last thing this league needs is s player's strike. The fanbase is apathetic enough and some teams are just barely hanging on. A strike is sheer stupidity, this isn't the NFL.

Agreed. I never advocated for a strike.

How many wins this year?

Im going to be optimistic for a change and go with five. If we get to play the Redblacks twice we should be able to reach that number.

but the players seemed to be considering it as an option.

I think what the owners have proposed for a cap increase is fair.

CFL isn't like other professional sports where the money seems to be pouring in.
I doubt any team has made much of a profit in the last 5 years. if any.

yes, the players do deserve more, but the owners also deserve to make some money after all the lean years.

I'm going to be really optimistic and say 8, maybe 9. depending on the offensive line actually protecting the QB.

I'm gonna be optimistic and say 0 wins. If they win 1, they have exceeded my expectations.

The change in coaches will be worth 3 wins alone. This team is much better on paper than last year. I think the Esks are going to be the surprise of the league this year.

9 wins...considered a success

if the Riders can go from 6 wins to the Grey Cup, then surely the Esks can...they of course won't but this is the CFL, all you need is competent management

"re-building" in the CFL is non-existent

The Eskimos team fell into disrepair, they made horrible hired of Macciocia as GM, Tillman as Gm and had a terrible coach in Reed. The lack of success at the gate and on the field made them totally reaccess the team and they acted by hiring a new GM (yes he was in house but actually paid his dues) and a quality head coach with a great resume from another organization. They've actually made a bunch of 'bold moves' and deserve credit for it.

Despite popular thought I am not 100% negative all the time, I do not hate the local sports teams and I do try and give credit where credit is due. Unfortunately the Oilers deserve every bit of criticism they get.

the players are greedy pigs who don't care about the health of the league.

A CFL strike?

This is a joke right?

A strike by a players association consisting of retreads that didn't make it in the NFL and have nowhere else to land?

jebus theres a dozen players in the league I would even miss if they were gone. That I even care enough about that they aren't entirely expendable.

You could airlift a whole platoon of "Replacements" in and other than seeing no Fred Stamps out there I couldn't care less. Might actually result in random Esks team being more competitive.

The notion of an ECHL, or AHL level league having a player strike is laughable. Who do these players think they are other than entirely and absolutely expendable?

Ugh.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to read the words "revenue sharing" in an article again for awhile.

CFL strike? now that is funny

Players need to look at the books of the eskis to see how bad or good teams do--one good thing about come teams being owned by the community--the books are open to the public
