He needs to be reminded that you really shouldn't be signing legal documents while you're drinking. I'm not allowed to have clients sign anything if they'd had anything over lunch or dinner.

(OT - did that wine come out of that can? Ack!)

Another player who made a name for himself during the Worlds. Amazing number of players who were in Minsk and got signed recently.

Oilers agree to terms with Iiro Pakarinen ...

http://oilers.nhl.com/club/blogpost....id=DL|EDM|home

The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with forward Iiro Pakarinen to a two-year entry level contract.

Pakarinen, 22, was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the seventh round, 184th overall, in 2011. He had his best season of his career this year, scoring 20 goals and adding 10 assists in 60 games with HIFK Helsinki.

He is a 6-foot-1, 194-pound winger who also represented Finland at the 2014 World Hockey Championship. He played for Finland twice at the World Junior Championships (2010 & 2011).

This guy looked pretty solid in the WC ..low risk signing by the Oilers...hopefully it pays off.

He probably doesn't feel like playing another year in the WHL, so will go play overseas for a team, than go AHL full-time next year, is my guess.

Mikael Lalancette says the Minnesota Wild will sign defenceman Guillaume Gelinas to his first professional contract. The article doesn't stipulate whether it's an NHL or AHL deal. Gelinas, 20, had a breakout season with Val-d'Or when he put up 23 goals and 92 points in 67 games more than double his previous career high.

Avs confirmed this nearly a month ago.

Avalanche also announced that the organization has signed four other players to entry-level deals: forwards Dennis Everberg, Samuel Henley and Borna Rendulic, as well as goaltender Roman Will.

He hardly counts as a prospect at this point, but the Canes have signed AHL tweener Chris Terry:

http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=723602

Quote:
RALEIGH, NC – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with left wing Chris Terry on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Terry $600,000 on the NHL level or $300,000 on the American Hockey League (AHL) level in 2014-15.
...
Terry (5’10”, 195 lbs.) was selected by Carolina in the fifth round, 132nd overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, and has appeared in 13 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, totaling one goal and two assists (3 points). Terry represented the Checkers at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic and has served as an alternate captain for Charlotte for the past two seasons.

Just a heads up, Taylor Stefishen's rights expire from Washington on 8/25/2014. He used up all of his CIS eligibility after playing 2 years in NCAA, 1 year in WHL, and then 3 years for UCalgary.

Stefishen was drafted 2008 round 5 #136 overall by Nashville Predators

There's some sort of conditional draft pick associated with him, too. I believe it's a seventh round pick that Nashville doesn't get if he's not signed.

Hershey signed 2012? Capitals seventh round draft pick Garrett Haar, per Scott Stuccio, but I'm fairly certain it's an AHL only contract.

He had to be signed by his orginal rights termination date for the pick to go to Nashville

And the conditional pick was in 2013 and ran out because Nashville failed to consider the fact that his rights would be extended so long.

AHL only contract. I was talking to Haar the day he got cut from Western Michigan, he seemed pretty pissed off. I wonder what happened?
