Ducks Looking for PMD

Insider Trading.
Weather or not its true is up for debate. I don't post much on this site but figured I'd see where other fans heads were at. If we are actually looking for 1 who would we target? I am of the mind that if we add a D we should be looking for a guy who can handle top pairing minutes and likely be a good match for Fowler as he is quickly becoming our Best D this year. I also think a guy who can PK is something we could use. So who should we target, who do we think is realistic, and who would be the dream catch. Lastly who do we give up to make it happen and fit within the cap?

Doesn't make any sense IMO. It's true that the defence hasn't contributed much but a bit too early.

I think we have sufficient puck movers in Fowler, Lindholm and Vatanen. Sure none of them are high-end, but our D is a hell of an upgrade from last year in that particular department.

Not a Need

Not to say they should run right out and make a trade, but if you are looking to bolster the blue line a crease clearing stay at home dman probably should be at the top of the shopping list.

I think that info was a bit out of date. With Lindholm playing the way he has been, I don't see any need for a defenseman.

They probably think we are still a top heavy one line team as well...

Why? We have Fowler, Lindholm, and Vatanen. If anything, we need another stay at home defenseman. We can ship out Sbisa (I like him, but I don't think he brings more than Lovejoy, who makes a hell of a lot less $) and Fistric.

I think a mobile shutdown defenseman is what they are lacking. I ciuld understand someone to helo with the pp but wiuld rather let that develop in the kids.

get some grit/veteran for the playoffs. Way too early until you see how well souray recovers but I dont like going in with sbisa or lovejoy in our top 4.

I'd say a PMD is a need, if the PMD can QB the powerplay. It would create a logjam of PMD's in the lineup however, but I assume Vatanen would be involved in the trade, or sent down to the AHL. Murray should never have traded Visnovsky only to replace him with Souray...

I doubt that we're looking for a trade. Maybe there's an opportunity out there, but I expect nothing to come of this rumor.

I agree...doesn't seem to be a tremendous need atm to acquire another PMD.

Although if the PP (notwithstanding last night's effort) continues to struggle, it would be worth looking into IMO.

A PMD? We have mobile defensemen in Fowler, Lovejoy, Sbisa, Lindholm, and Vatanen - can move the puck with skates. As for moving the puck by stick, then we have Beauch, Lindholm and Vatanen. Hell, we haven't included Souray at all yet.

I think they're just throwing straws out there because of the awesome depth the Ducks have at goal - they want a trade to happen, I suppose. But with the 2nd worse PK unit, a PMD doesn't help that deficiency. We're already dominant at 5v5. A shutdown defenseman would actually improve the Ducks at PK and ES play.

It just seems weird that say we're looking for PMD considering how we're one of the top scoring 5v5 teams in the league.

Don't really expect anything of this rumor.

Ducks are moving the puck fine with their backend as of now. We are extremely deep on D.

This was already posted in the trade thread and given how bad the PP has been I can see why Murray was inquiring about outside help. There's a huge difference between being in the market for something and actually making a trade though - TSN isn't reporting that anything is imminent or that anything will actually happen.

I don't buy this for one minute. We have enough PMDs.

Finding a clear cut upgrade out there for an acceptable price just isn't in the realm of reality.

They may want to hedge their bets with a top 4 expiring contract type guy, in case the rookies implode come January - February, and if Souray is behind schedule in his rehab.

It doesn't say they're looking for a #2.

the only way we trade for a dman is if it's a legit top pairing player

Could see us going for Niskanen or Liles if Toronto eats some of the cap. I hope not, though.

I rather have a solid stay at home defender. Would be nice to have an extra one if Allen or Beauchemin get hurt.
