Once every couple games, he brings out some slick moves that catch some fans and opponents off guard.
That's the part of his game this season that has surprised and impressed me so far. It's unfortunate that none of these moves have resulted in any points for him on the scoresheet, but I like that added bit of flash to his game.
Pardy seems to have the skills to compete in the NHL, but his skating holds him back and he will never be more than a 7th defenceman. He is routinely beat wide on the rush and when the puck is dumped into the defensive zone. I would much rather give his icetime to Redmond or Melchiori at this point.
I hope he stays up even after Postma returns. I'm a fan. I don't understand what the negativity was about when we signed him. Imo he's the best among Stuart/Ellerby/Pardy
These are my thoughts as well. Clitsome's on IR so we'll have room for all four of Postma, Ellerbe, Pardy and Stuart this year. This off-season we'll have to make a decision though since Redmond won't be waiver exempt next season. None of them really have much worth on the trade market but are all useful in their own way.
When the trade deadline comes and goes, does that institute a roster freeze? Can you still pick up and lose players via waivers? I keep forgetting.
There are 4 recalls (excluding emergencies i think) from the minors after the trade deadline but you cannot add players to your roster outside of through the recall process. Well technically you can but the player is ineligible to play for you during the playoffs.
Might get Redmond back. I don't think the Jets will risk losing any of their D to waivers.
Agreed. Pardy has been playing too well to make it through waivers again. I believe he made it through in September after a mediocre training camp, back when teams were right up against the cap, and many simply could not find another $700,000 cap room. Now with over half the season gone, you're looking at an effective cap hit under $300,000, and teams have banked up cap space, and Pardy has exceeded expectations. I'm sure there are a few teams that need a good 3rd pairing Dman.
I like Pardy more than Ellerby, Clitsome, and Postma.
Honestly, this guy has a solid game.
It doesn't surprise me that he's from the rock.
Every so often he'll fool you with his ability with the puck. So many times, out of the blue wtf, that was Pardy! He was dangling for a wrap-around against the Ducks the other night, and but for a lost mask...
He's tough, too. I haven't seen him back down in any situation.
If I could understand Newfie he'd be on the top of my go for a beer list, too.
I think hes pretty decent. Definitely didn't deserve the negativity that came before the season.
I like him when he plays simple, but he has some pretty clear deficiencies. Anaheim was dumping the puck in from their blueline when he was near our blueline because they knew their forward would win the race.
Noticed last night that him and Ellerby were hesitating on pinches quite a bit, which I guess is good from the stand point of not getting caught by a speedy forward, but pretty sad that they can't step up and keep the puck in the zone at other times as NHL players.
