Rewatching now. You'll need a bigger knife.

I believe on Talking Bad, Gilligan basically said it was a continuity issue that they tried to weasel an artistic meaning ontop of. Basically when they filmed the scene to come afterwards a while back, he didn't have his watch on, and they needed a way to deal with that. Made me chuckle actually.

Their artsy definition had something to do with Jesse giving it to him for his birthday exactly a year back, and him having some odd reason to give it up a year later.

Vince Gilligan said on Talking Bad that they shot that scene because Walt was filmed w/o a watch at the original diner scene. They wanted to explain that. Then he gave an "artsy-fartsy" explanation, as he put it, but there's the actual reason.

Continuity in the storyline.

This part I did see on Talking Bad.

Gilligan realized that Walt had the watch on in New Hampshire, but not in the Denny's scene back in the ABQ, so he had Walt take the watch off when he did for that reason.

Gilligan also reasoned, Walt was thinking he wouldn't be needing the watch anymore, considering what he was about to do.

I'm just wondering: Did Walt come out with this master plan while watching Charlie Rose (he was all ready to turn himself in before that)? How could he think of all that in like 2 minutes?

That's kind of how he rolls. Walt has always been a master of making up amazing plans in about 15 seconds.

2 episodes ago for example. He had no plans of taking Holly and making the phone call until he realized Walt Jr. was calling the cops on him. In about 3 seconds, he realized what needed to be done, and even thought in time to take Holly to make it convincing. (At least, that's how I interpreted that part, one could argue he did it out of emotion then changed his mind when changing Holly in the bathroom)

Of course that's subjective, but to me it is the greatest TV show I have ever watched.

Anyways, I never really gave my thoughts on the finale.

Excellent episode, I think it was written to the quality I expected from such a top-notch series. Don't want to go in-detail for I am time-constrained, but I will summarize my emotional feelings with a nicely fitting gif.

Yeah, but he already had the force the Schwartzs to give Walt Jr the money part figured out, there's no way he would have just decided not to turn himself in because they discredited him. I agree with Diamondillum, he's always been a master at making perfect plans in a short amount of time.

I think also in the end that he gave Lydia a chance to save her life. She didn't look on death's door quite yet, and with the information he gave her about what he did, she could likely use that to get treatment. Walt probably considered it to be fate, as well as already having his revenge fulfilled, when he took that call meant for Todd from her. Still though, checking herself into a hospital with ricin poisoning would certainly through more investigating eyes here way.

There is no treatment. She can't be saved. All she can do is sit there and wait to die.

As mentioned, lists are subjective, but for me, right at the top.

I don't think there is anything currently on TV at the moment that comes close for me.

Yes, that's right. My mistake. What was the poison that he gave to Brock then? It was something different, from that plant...

I believe there is treatment for Ricin poisoning but it is supportive in nature.

Still, I've changed my mind and agree with Better Call Saul. Not that Walt would've had it out for her so bad, but Walt probably believed that Lydia needed to die in order to protect Skyler as well, from any potential that Lydia could get herself in trouble and then use what she knew against Skyler for some sort of deal.

Thought we would see Saul somehow for sure in the finale. Guess we'll have to wait till his spinoff
