Buf-Edm

Buffalo
Yakupov
Dubnyk
3rd round pick

Edmonton
Miller
Foligno

I believe this would help Buffalo in there rebuild and it shores Edmonton's goaltending up.

Why would EDM do this with a young team and get an aging goalie?

I don't like it for either team, Miller is too old for the Oilers and Buffalo isn't really getting a good return for what they're giving up

Yakupov for an impending UFA.

Makes sense.

Doubt the Oilers would trade Yakupov alone for that package.

Miller has probably got a good few years ahead before he starts to decline.

I think age is less of a problem then his impending UFA status.

This is really bad.

Yakupov is far and away of greatest value, Oilers get bent

Yakupov isn't a good return?

While Foligno is being underrated by Edmonton fans, its still not a good deal.
If this deal was to go somewhere i'm guessing buffalo would have to take on Hemsky's salary.

What about Myers + Girgensons for Yakupov?

Gives Edmonton a big potential #1 dman and a big gritty C prospect and gives Buffalo a Vanek replacement and a huge building block at forward.

To be fair, it makes the original deal look good.

i would say no we already have a potential #1D that is more likely to hit that potential than myers is of regaining it.

I didn't notice where anyone mentioned Foligno as being a bad asset or a negative in the deal.

Right now those are two of buffalo's best looking young players.Everyone loves Girgensons and Myers should bounce back this year.

While I don't like it much, Buffalo does need a Vanek replacement and is heavy on D prospects. But its still not going to be a popular proposal for Buffalo fans.

I don't think anyone has said a single thing about Foligno in this thread. The premise of Yakupov for an impending UFA in Miller regardless of the secondary pieces is absurd.

There is no deal here to be made. Having the Oilers give up Hemsky to get rid of his salary makes the deal worse, not better.

The Oilers are happy to keep Hemsky and his salary, there was discussions in the off-season that maybe it would be better for both sides to move on, but no deal was struck and both were happy to be back with each other. Despite being overpaid, Hemsky can still be a contributor to the team, especially if the Oilers were to trade away Yakupov (which would in a million years never happen for a UFA).

If Myers rebounds then Edmonton may think about it.

The Oilers owner has very deep pockets.

You will have to come up a better reason, then wiggling out if the last yr of Hemsky's contract. Edmonton does not care that the new Sabre owner likes to spend.
