A couple of quick questions to Wild Fans

Whats going on guys?

I'm just about done with my fantasy pool team and this year I'd like to round it up with a player from a team I don't get to watch a lot. I figure having a player from Minnesota will get me to follow the team more.

So here goes:

1. Is Brodin a lock to make the team this year? If so what kind of numbers are you guys expecting from him?

2. What about Dumba? Is he ready to spend the whole year in the NHL? IF he does, would his +/- rating be a concern for me?

Thanks in advance and have a great season. Maybe we'll see each other in the Stanley cup finals

Yes.

~30 points.

2. What about Dumba? Is he ready to spend the whole year in the NHL?
He will get at least 9 games. The rest is up to him.

Most definitely. He'll be on that top pairing with Suter. We're hoping to see an improvement in his offensive game. I'm thinking we could see between 35-45 pts from him....just a guess.

Possibly. He will for sure see some action in the first 9 games of the season. His play then will determine whether or not he sticks.

Brodin is a lock for the top pairing and likely getting #2 power play unit time. I would say 5-10 goals and 25-35 points.

Dumba I don't think will be up past nine games this year and his +/- probably won't be very good, just a gut feeling.

1.) Yup, Brodin's a lock. He'll play on the top-pairing with Suter all year (barring injuries). Personally, I'm expecting 30(ish) points from the Swedish meatball.

2.) Dumba will start with the Wild - Likely on our 3rd pairing. I doubt he'll stay in Minnesota the entire year. Management will likely want him to keep getting lots of ice time in Red Deer.

Wow thanks a lot for the quick responses gents, much appreciated.

I'm proud to announce Brodin has been selected to be part of my fantasy team. Here's to hoping he has a great season!

Cheers!

For the record I think Dumba earns a spot for the season.

I decided to pass on Dumba because of the uncertainty. Ive always been high on him but there was too much risk involved this season.

Same time next year, I'll probably be back asking the same questions and picking him

Thanks again

I'm on board with you guys. I don't know if it's because I believe in Dumba, or I believe that anything resulting in Stoner sitting benefits this team.

Same reason I'm pulling for Scandella, I have less faith in him at this stage, but when he's got his head on straight, he's much better than Stoner.

The only thing with Dumba is...

He is a high risk, high reward kind of player. If he's making bad decisions and its costing the team games I think he could wear on the coaches' patience pretty fast. Brodin is a safe and steady player; he doesn't make those high risk decisions that can boomerang and cost teams precious points / victories.

Dumba is a talented player without question, with some great skill but unless he's looking very lucky, unless he isn't hurting the team I think his chances to stick around are pretty good. In fact it might be more about that than him being a point producer that keeps him around. That was Brodin's game and that's why he was such an instant fixture to the club.

Whether its Scandella, or back when Brent Burns was trying to be a big time offensive defenseman and taking every opportunity to join the rush or start one himself...when his risks outweighed the rewards you had to question the decision to keep them there. I think Dumba is more of this ilk than anything like Brodin. I think its far easier to keep a guy like Brodin around than it is Dumba.
