Actually, until it is ratified, it is just an offer.

Sure is going to be fun though.

0% chance that it won't be ratified.

$39 mil is a nice number

Antropov ($1.0) - Sundin ($6.8) - Lindros ($2.0)
Stajan ($0.8) - Allison ($2.0) - Murray ($3.5)
Tucker ($1.6) - Steen ($0.7) - Ponikarovsky ($0.5)
Kilger ($0.5) - Wilm ($0.4) - Perrott ($0.4)
(2 of Wellwood/Kukumberg/Ling/Druken/Williams ($0.8))

Aucoin ($3.5) - McCabe ($3.5)
Kaberle ($2.3) - Pilar ($0.5)
Colaicovo ($0.8) - Klee ($1.9)
(1 of Hedin/White/Bell/Kronwall/Harrison ($0.4))

Belfour ($4.6)
(1 of Tellqvist/Racine/Aubin ($0.4))

Total: $39.0 million

I highly doubt it would cost $2 mil for each of Allison and Lindros, $1-1.5 is more reasonable therefor with that $2 mil we save we could use that $3.5 from Aucoin and make a legitimate offer of $5.5 for Pronger or Niedermayer.

Like your selections (with one exception), but Antropov on the top line? Ick !!

In all honesty (and I know others will blast it, but what the hey), if by going what Colin Campbell claimed last night on fan590 about the game being opened up, I'd rather see the first line of:

Sundin - Lindros - Wellwood (and there's where I get blasted).

2nd line I like, but for the sake of development rather than a one year stint with Allison, I'd rather have:
Allison - Stajan - Murray.

That's two offensive lines, but neither a defensive liability.

3rd Line I'd move Antropov into centre, and depending on Steen's play (if he even makes the big club) decide whether he or Poni flank the right wing or get moved to fourth line duties.

Defense, I'm not so sure about, 5 of your 6 D-men are primarily offensive players. There's other players I'd look into acquiring before Aucoin, like Foote, even if it comes at the expense of signing Murray (as in your example).

Cap might be 2-3 less than the 39 to cover benefits.

Minimum might be 450k.

So lose Aucoin.

From tsn.

Among the most significant features are:

- a hard team-by-team salary cap with a payroll of range of $21 million to $39 million (in the first year), which includes all player costs (benefits, insurance etc).

So subtract 2-3 million so a cap before benefits, 36-37 million.

Scott Morrison on Sportsnet is saying that the individual player cap is 20% of team salary and not of the league cap.

Anyone else hear this?

Hmm, they were saying a player should not be more than 20% of a team's payroll, so ...

I hope that is the case.
